Great story on Sivo..well done to all involved.

Meanwhile Jai Arrow looks fair game...courtesy of nrl.com..would be a brilliant signing
Arrow given permission to test the market

The race to sign Jai Arrow will intensify this week after the Gold Coast gave their star forward permission to negotiate with rival clubs immediately.

NRL.com can reveal the Titans have put forward a lucrative four-year deal, believed to be around the $3 million mark, to keep the Queensland Origin representative beyond 2020, but Arrow has told the Titans he wants to wait until he hits the open market on November 1 before making a decision.

In a bid to fast-track negotiations, the Titans have granted Arrow’s management permission to receive offers before November 1 from rival clubs for 2021 in the hope of sorting out their future sooner than originally expected.

Both parties don’t want to sit on their hands for the next two months just waiting for the date to tick over to begin negotiations and have agreed it is in the best interests of all involved to kick off proceedings immediately.

The news is expected to ignite a bidding frenzy over the coming weeks for one of the game’s most sought-after forwards.

Parramatta and the Bulldogs are two of the most cashed-up clubs in 2021 and are keen on luring the 24-year-old to Sydney.

Arrow is contracted with the Gold Coast until the end of next season and the club would like to upgrade his final year, however the Titans’ current salary cap situation makes it almost impossible for them to do so unless other players were to move on.

NRL.com understands his preference is to remain on the Gold Coast but is open to testing his value on the open market and potentially moving away if the right deal comes along.

The Titans, who have not made an official statement on Arrow's negotiations, recently identified the lock, fullback AJ Brimson and 19-year-old prop Moeaki Fotuaika as their priority retention targets, extending the deal of the latter earlier this week until the end of 2022.

The way he "left it to his manager" to f**k us around in the media left a bitter taste in many mouths. Obviously he can play. It's no coincidence that he's one of the few 'long term' Eels with a winning record in our jersey.

Fair enough, the whole negotiation didn't really bother me that much. I think he is an idiot off the field for trusting that slime ball but on the field (where it matters to me) he is always one of our best.

Cause hes a sh*t hooker.

I actually think he goes ok, it is just that it throws the balance of the team off moving your fullback to hooker for 15 minutes a match and then back gain.

I understand why the coach does it, if it came off he'd be a genius and maybe with a better team it would be fine but we need the least amount of disruptions possible so it just doesn't help.

Journos sensationalise everything. Every player is either on 'big money' or peanuts, depending on the narrative. You lot are their target audience.

It is the sort of backroom movement that demonstrates the true health of a club. And Parramatta are looking pretty good with seven key stars ready to recommit to Brad Arthur’s Eels.

Parramatta are preparing to finalise the retention and contract extension of six key NRL players in a staggering $7 million pre-finals coup.

The Eels have nailed down prop Daniel Alvaro, are close to re-signing Michael Jennings and Brad Takairangi, and are well advanced in negotiations to extend the contracts of star players Dylan Brown, Reed Mahoney and Maika Sivo.

An expectation of retaining all six would give Parramatta a massive boost leading into Friday’s crucial match against Brisbane at Suncorp Stadium.

The Daily Telegraph can reveal:

● Brown is in discussions about a three- or four-year extension worth around $700,000 season;

● Sivo is under contact for next year with an upgrade and extension offer for a further three seasons worth $1.5 million;

● Mahoney is under contact for next season but is looking at a new three-year deal;

● Alvaro has signed a new two-year deal which will keep him at the Eels until the end of 2021;

● Jennings wants a two-year deal but the Eels remain cautious and are talking about one year given the club’s strong crop of young centres;

● Takairangi wants a two-year extension but it appears the offer, at this stage, will last one year.

Parramatta will outlay up to $7 million to sign and secure the six players.

Brown and Mahoney will likely have their contracts formally secured after the season.

Eels officials were refusing to comment on any offers or deals.

Brown’s contract talks are well advanced, the Eels supremely confident he will remain at Bankwest Stadium.

Sivo and Mahoney are also in top-level discussions and have indicated a desire to remain at the club.

Jennings’ deal would be modest compared to previous contracts when he was a NSW and Kangaroos star. But the centre wants at least another year or two playing in the NRL. He may be offered one year with a second-year option in Parramatta’s favour.

Asked about Jennings’ future, Eels coach Brad Arthur said: “The club is dealing with that. Jenko wants to stay, the club wants him to stay, they always sort themselves out.

“Michael had a really good pre-season and he has played accordingly. He is just starting to find his feet again, coming back from his knee injury.

“We’re expecting his experience in the big games to get us through.”

Parramatta will need to rebound after a disappointing loss to Canterbury last weekend.

And the Eels will need to knuckle down without forward Nathan Brown, who is serving a two-game suspension.

“We’re really excited about what the future holds over the next few weeks but, at the moment, we just have to worry about each week, winning every game and seeing where we end up,” Mahoney said.

“We will worry about finals then but it’s a good, exciting part of the year. We can’t wait. We just have to keep doing what we’re doing.”

Parramatta winger Blake Ferguson will return from injury against Brisbane after a six-week absence.

The once-depleted Eels now have every player available, except for Brown.

“Browny was remorseful and knows he let the emotions get the better of him,” Arthur said. “He probably let his mates down a little bit, he has taken it pretty hard. He knows he did the wrong thing.”

Putting aside the fact these figures are pure hearsay, what are people’s thoughts on offering Sivo $500k for three years? As much as I love the big fella that seems like absolute top dollar for a winger in his debut year. It also ties up $1mill in our 2 x wingers. Given we were the club that gave him his start and we’re in the box seat of having him
Contracted already for next year at presumably a low salary, I don’t think we should have to fork out what I think is the absolute max that he would attract on the open market across the entire 3 years.

I must admit that I was surprised at the amounts quoted for Sivo. So he was under contract for next season? I thought we only had a one year deal in place.

Happy for Taka and Jenni to get one more year. Hope we resign Drown.
