No seriously, Savage is probably the first in quite a few years of all my predictions/recommendations that doesn't seem to be working out, but I haven't lost all hope. He is still very young.

But he is being coached by a coach that can get it totally wrong at times, not unlike our own coach so he may just need a different game plan to get the best out of him and or a different and better coach.

See I know he wants to play fullback, but at this stage of his career if I were coaching him I would get him to go back and study players like Alex Johnston and JAC with a plan to play him exclusively on the wing for now.

Just simplify his game and tell him to just work on his defense first and to just stay on his wing in attack and be ready to always be in position and ready for the ball. Nothing more nothing less. With his pace on the flank he would just like Johnston and JAC get more then enough opportunities to show his wares and shine. Once he establishes himself and gets the experience and is a regular first grader then and only then would we add more to his bow.

But the way they are/were playing him at the moment was way to much and he was being found out way to much defensively. He is still only a kid and not a big one. He needs proper nurturing and he could still make it, but I don't know if Stuart is the coach that can protect him enough and build him up slowly. I fear what is going to happen to him, is what similarly happened to our very own Bevan French. To much to soon and before he was really ready because of their exceptional talent.

Look at Walker at the Roosters. Difference there is they have a coach that recognised the danger of ruining the kid and pulled him back for a while and rejigged his game a little.

A GOOD DEAL TO LOOK FORWARD TO FOR HOOKER
Another Arthur may be on the verge of playing in the NRL after Matt Arthur – the son of Parramatta coach Brad Arthur – signed a contract extension that will eventually see him become part of the Eels top 30.
A hooker, Matt Arthur made his NSW Cup debut this year while still a teenager and was considered a surprise omission from the NSW under-19 State of Origin team.
He can take some solace out of a new deal with the Eels that will see him spend the next two seasons on a development contract before becoming a top-30 squad member in 2026.

Arthur’s retention is part of a signing drive aimed at ensuring the Eels keep their best young talent. Plenty of experts believe Arthur may be the pick of them.
The Eels may need him to step up as well given hooker is one position where the side lacks genuine class.
The retirement of Josh Hodgson has left Brendan Hands and Joey Lussick to fight for the No.9 jersey heading into 2024 season.
Next year may be too soon for Arthur but it’s not out of the realm of possibility to suggest he could push for a first grade debut in 2025.

Like seriously considering he is the coaches Son we don't really need to be spouting about keeping him.. He was always going to stay.

Should be talking about our other Juniors coming through which there are plenty the same age as MA..

Zac Cini and Jabriel Kalache are on Dev contracts. So I see your guaranteed Top 30 spots and go all in.

So we shouldn’t give him a dev contract and he should be let go ? Am I judging the mood correctly?

It’s a sad reflection on some posters when the comments are not about a players ability, just his name. Surely trying to keep the team that won junior reps together a la Panfers is sensible, but then again some wake up each day to post childish posts.

Poor kid never has a chance because of who his dad (and brother) is, unfortunately.

He has shown plenty of ability to play and has earned a development contract.
Merkins here acting like he’s being thrown into FG first thing next season, which is obviously not the case.
