I am stunned Mal still has a job tbh.

They got flogged 30-0 in the final last year it was worst Australian performance i have ever seen.

Previous coaches have been sacked for less

Wayne Bennett got sacked for losing 24-0 in the Tri-Nations final in 2005.
Ricky Stuart never coached Australia again after losing World Cup final in 2008.
Tim Sheens lost to NZ in 2014 3 x times and never coached Australia again.

Mal the token immortal has been stealing a living since Super League.

Meninga played more Origins than Kenny and Sterling put together. 35 Origin matches ffs. It's phenomenal. He played Origin for 13 years.

I get he might've had less competition for places than those two but the fact stands. He played that many games and won most of them. Sterling and Kenny lost more than they won.

To be fair, he won a few premierships and played a thousand Origins.
Mal is just lucky in life.

I wish I got that lucky in life playing in a champion team the Raiders were in the early 90s.

Then he coached a QLD side that had 4 potential immortals in it at a time NSW had no identity or clue to win origin.

Any Australian coach that's get beat 30-0 in a test match should be marched out of the joint.

I suppose Mal gave everything to the game and the game is giving back to Mal that gave him everything.

What a Lucky bastard Mal is.

The love the media and people within the game have for the faux 13th immortal astounds me.

I didn't say he was a good coach. But he was obviously an awesome player, and for a very long time.

Yea I don’t really like Mal, but he won (captained) 3 premierships, and played for and captained both his state and country to a fair bit of success.

Would you say he was the best player in all those teams though? Cos in my immortal book you would need to be at least as good, but probably better then all your current peers.

I don't think he was even the best player in his club side.
