Parramatta's talented Jersey Flegg player in Simon Micallef has been selected to represent Malta at the upcoming Orara Valley Sevens on January 22 & 23, underwritten by Russel Crowe.

Having represented Malta in both of Malta's international rugby league games to date, Micallef will be apart of Malta's sevens debut and will play alongside former Sharks NRL star in Ben Sammut, whilst also joining current Premier League players in Magpies' Ryan Borg and Knights' Daniel Spiteri.

The sevens tournament will field up to 40 sides, inlcuding USA, Cook Islands, Lebanon, Fiji & Fiji A whilst the MRLA will use the tournament to also scout the talent for the national team(Malta)'s tour to Lebanon for participation in the Mediterranean Cup and also to stage a historic first fixture in Malta in late 2005.

Just read that Marzella is playing. He was our Flegg winger and went home because he thought he wouldnt get a chance this year.

yeah, Joe Grima (Eels SG Ball coach) will also be the head coach for Malta.

They wanted Vella amongst others but the clubsa wouldn't release them to play.

Micky Vella will remain as assistant coach until he he hopefully pulls on the red and white when Malta take it to the Mediterranean Cup in late 2005 before staging the first ever rugby league fixture in Malta.

<UPtheEELS>- When Pauly tells you he's available for selection, chances are he'll be selected! He may also be back in Sydney for Malta's VB Sevens commitments on February 12 also.
