Gotta say PJ looks sharp with the ball (and geez he's become a nugget). He and Tim were both having a go at half though my read is that PJ (Half) and Morris (FE) is an absolute given. Riddell was also looking the goods, he's going to do great things for us this year.

can you break it down if you could and define "sharp with the ball" throwing dummies, drawing the man, cut out passes, light on his feet...what actually stood out when PJ had the pill in his hand?

sorry to be pantantic! but it's been 4 months since I've seen them play and I like everyone else are hangin out!! 8-[

He didnt go to the line much. It was more attacking 20 m out from the opponets line. He looked very good with ball in hand.

I'll tell you what stood out for me and it was mainly his ability to read the play. You can see him look around, make a quick assessment and effectively execute the choosen option. His passing game is strong both left and right which gives him great flexibility. And he deadset has the game to be a great half-back. If I can explain, there are some classly halves who have that ability to constantly have the defensive side in two minds. They're quick, they step, dummy and find the holes.

Tahu didn't train as he is about to get hitched to his ball and chain!!!

And believe it or not, the people that saw Wagon training in the Centres... well stay tuned because on good authority Wags is training in the Centres!!!!!!!!!! Yes that's right... Wagon the Centre!!

I've been told that the likely forward pack is:

Prop: Cannings Hooker: Riddell Prop: Cayless
2nd Row: Hindmarsh 2nd Row: Robinson
Lock: Morrison

BIG!!

I hope your right!! We had the worst defencive record in the comp through our centres last year and Wagon would surely improve this alarming statistic!!

I'll tell you who looked the Goods at Half..

Marcus Perenera!!! After it was mentioned by some of the Training Staff, I watched him run around and boy he could move it. He was calling the plays (albeit in a training scenario) but the way he was running guys into the gaps was very impressive. the Eels are extremely impressed with him!!!

and

Joel Reddy is going to push Wade McKinnon all the way for Fullback, apparently he has been setting the training paddock on fire and the coaching staff are paying close attention!!!

Yep I was very impressed with Marcus as well. It's going to be interesting to see where they play him. He's very small for a five-eighth. But his footwork was outstanding, too. But he was training with the second squad so I think he's a fair way away from seeing him in firsts. Did you notice after the training broke up and the rest of the blokes went for a drink he and Henry pulled off to the side and were doing some kicking to each other.

Tim Smith is training with the firsts though and showed some deft kicking though twice putting kick through for "tries".

I'd say Wagon will definitely play centre based on training, he spent no time at all in the forwards

Cayless trained very wide and much more like a second rower.

I though Luke Burt was looking good. Much more solid and he was doing a lot of talking.

From the looks of it we're shaping up with some combinatoin of:
Fullback: McKinnon
Wings: Petersen, Burt, Grothe
Centre: Tahu, Grothe, Wagon
Five-Eighth: Morris
Half: PJ Marsh, Smith
Lock: Morrison
Second Row: Hindmarsh, Robinson, Cayless
Prop: Stringer, Cayless, Cannings, Vella, Tsoulos
Interchange players: PJ March, Widders

Iam sort of happy Wagon may be pushed out to the wing. Robinson in the starting pack sounds great. Wagon could certainly fix our defensive woes out wide. We should see more attack out of Wagon.

I was very impressed by Reddy. I doubt he will take Mckinnons position but geez this kid can play.

Huh Wagon on the Wing  Think you will find Wags goes as wide as centre only ;-)
