Petersen may score tries and has improved...but is still not good enough for first grade, he would not make first grade at Souths FFS #-o

excellent Pazza

I don't really know Henderson therefore
I might consider 14. Burt off the bench as he can slot in to a number of backline positions

I meant to put in Peterson for Prince. sorry.

I also considered putting O'Dwyer in the centres and Wagon on the bench instead of Burt.

If we do sign Leulaui I'd like to see:

6. Marsh
7. Leulaui

I'm sorry I just don't rate Morris as a five-eighth. I think he's a perfect utility to come off the bench and/or give Riddell a breather. I think Marsh would be very effective, in the same way that Preston Campbell is for Penrith at five-eighth.

Also what about Grothe in the centres?

2. Peterson
3. Tahu
4. Grothe
5. Burt

Morris at 5/8 works for me with a good organisational half.
I think he would do well with Marsh.

If Leulaui comes over then maybe PJ would slot into 5/8

Cant see grothe being as good in the centres. He has some defensive problems which arent as bad on the wing.

Morris is probably the best 5/8 we have at the club atm. If you remember the latter stages of 03' he was outstanding in that role.

Marsh IMO would be a good 5/8 and I Wouldnt be suprised to see that combination.

Marsh was signed by the Warriors and started his career with them at five eight. Could well be a possibility though Morris, who many consider a utility, was a five eight BEFORE he made his debut at the Knights on the wing. He had never played outside of the halves through his junior career to my knowledge. His utility value became apparent during his debut season. Personally I think Morris is the better option at five eight as Marsh can use his touch skills and speed in the dummy half area.

I am willing to bet my entire life savings that Wagon will not be our 5/8.
and by round 5 I agree with you but with Marsh unlikley to be able to handle 80 mins from round 1 I can see WAgon starting the year in #6.

Exactly. Round 1, especially if it's against a decent side Smith might opt for Wagon alongside either Morris or Leuluai in the halves, for defensive strength and assuming PJ Marsh is not match fit enough to start yet.

If we see Marsh not do so well in the halves during the trials Ill expect to see Leuluai come into the halves early with Marsh moving to the bench. I think Morris will partner whoever Smith opts to be our 7.

I think the reason for participating in 4 trials is to give each Smith, Marsh and Leulaui (if he comes) a go at the halfback position and the remaining trial to give the best out of the 3 another shot to prove himself. I dont think anyone will nick Morris out of the 5/8 position in the first couple rounds. I hope Perenara gets a shot somewhere during the trials.

I'm sure everyone in the 39/40 man squad will get at least one go in the trials... i think the report said that no player would play more than 2 of them
