When he plays well I like what he brings.

However when he goes into his 'soft' mode it is SO irritating. He just doesn't seem to try. Won't contest bombs, stands out wide whinging and then doesn't help out anyway...

I've never hammered him for getting 'dominated' in a dummy half run (unless he was to do it 5th tackle or something ridiculous!) - being dominated on the 2nd tackle is fine - go to ground and just lay there until your forwards get back anyway!

If Luke Burt takes a dummy half run he gets dominated OR he doesn't take one at all. That's why this bloke masqerading as a 1st grade footballer should be dropped to Wenty A-Reserves to play against blokes of his own ability.

Burt's form might not be spectacular atm but he's not alone. Burt is a first grade footballer as he has shown over many seasons.

We obviously miss Eric Grothe but he can't play with his knee injury. Burt might be carry an injury as well. But what are our other options? Who is Burt holding back?

Burt is playing busted at the moment. He would normally miss a few weeks and get things fixed up but my guess is that he is playing on because of our situation with injuries.

If that is the case - then we should be applauding him.

Ok so Ant Mitchell is going to make his debut. I hope that Ando gives his 14 time on the field. Frankly I have never understood the reasoning behind MK playing for the first 60 mins before KK gets a run. Rotate the hookers in the traditional manner I say.

How else would you rotate them but without wasting interchanges? It's not like they can be slotted into the 2nd row like a piggy.

Traditionally you put the backup hooker on at the 25 minute mark, then bring back the starting hooker at the 60ish minute mark.

2 interchanges.

I've seen more and more teams this year reserving their 'utility' player for the second half. So it wouldn't surprise me to see Mitchell used this way. I suppose teams do it to use only 1 interchange for the hooking spot?

I prefer the old way - especially since all our backrowers are easy 80 minute players.

Speaking of backrowers, who is coming on to the bench?

Slightly off the topic, does anyone know if the Eels are in Brisbane..? and if so do they do any sort of match prep. training the day before a game..?

Well here is something of a left field selection, given that Te Maari has been our 18th man/fringe forward for some time now.

The Eels also had to make a forced change, after second-rower Ben Smith failed to beat a charge at a judiciary hearing on Wednesday night and was suspended for two matches. Taniela Lasalo joins the team on the bench, with Justin Horo set to be promoted from the bench to take Smith's place in the starting side.

Te Maari is pretty unlucky to miss out, since I think he has looked at least a notch or two better than Lasalo for Wenty this year.

Lee Te Mari's FG career didn't last long did it ? Maybe he didn't peddle well enough ?
