Eels to target Asotasi, not Tolman

"Roy Asotasi – not Aidan Tolman – shapes as a more likely front-row target for the Parramatta Eels.

Despite reports suggesting they’d offered Tolman $2 million over three years, Parramatta are not interested in the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs prop because he’s simply not big enough to inject their out-gunned pack with the thrust needed to damage opposition defensive lines.

Although he’s getting on in years, Asotasi still has the ability to cause havoc – as demonstrated when he knocked Bulldogs skipper Mick Ennis senseless with his first charge last weekend.

When quizzed on his future last week, Asotasi said he’d prefer to remain with the South Sydney Rabbitohs but knows the club must shed forwards after recruiting all four Burgess brothers, Ben Te’o and Jeff Lima in recent times."

Pass... He's already 31 and has done f**k all in about 3 years. He'd be ok if he'd accept 150k, but I'd expect he'd want somewhere between double and triple that given the reported money he's been on at Souths and his status a long serving Kiwi test player.

If at first you don't succeed in writing a speculation filled bullshit article, just write another one

Awesome. I like all the quotes from our club decision makers that link us to Roy.

Love a good game of connect the dots.

I thought we would have learned our lesson after Carl Webb. Why let Justen Poore go and then sign a forward that is four years older?

I understand the need to "bend" the line, but I would have thought that a more effective forward pack would consist of a range of players who defend well and run well in combination.

He's spent more time on the sideline than playing the last 2 years.

Based on the players Ricky has been chasing thus far I'm not expecting anyone older than 27/28 to be targeted unless they are exceptional. We seem to be going after young talent with proven first grade ability that have another 7-10 years of football ahead of them not 32 yo looking for a super top up before retirement....see Asotasi.

Look let's just say 'hypothetically' we were looking for an experienced forward at the right price I'd be going for Pritchard over Asotasi.

I am not sure Roy is the right fit but maybe with fui getting towards the end of his career and mannah / allgood/ lussick all pretty young especially for props Ricky is looking for a cheapie experienced front rower. I don't think Roy would cost much as I doubt he is being flooded with offers. That's even if reports are correct media is normally wrong.
