I read on Panthers forum half of the eels side didn't train and had the flu all week. Maybe explain Thursday night.

How do the panthers forumites know this?

I thought we already had the flu run through us one game near the start of the year

I just am passing on what I read. I mean it's winter. It isn't some wild story. Very plausible

Wtf has happened to Gutho's kick returns? He's looking to pass as soon as he gets the ball in his hands. If he doesn't pass he is often making dumb mistakes through poor ball security. Bloke used his popularity with the fans and relationship with the coach to pressure management during contract negotiations. I used to love his game but now he's turned into a sooking slacker.
The f**ker thinks he’s Jarryd Hayne

Someone asked earlier why we are comparing our bench use to Penrith. I’d say why not? Why not see how our approach compares to the best team (by far) in the comp?

For the first 8 rounds, all their benchies were getting good minutes. In their game against us, they seemed to rely more on their starters and as a result Salmon and Kenny got 11 and 15 minutes respectively. In that same game, Cartwright had zero minutes.

Occasionally, Salmon will get under 10 minutes but for the most part, they get good minutes. Are we so fit that we don’t need to give all our bench a run? It seems very strange to me.

I asked and you answered the question

We don't appear as fit as the panthers

The panthers balance their players by having the back 5 ruck out well and and letting their forwards rest around the 40m line

Api comes off too.

And they play with intense and purpose

We are nothing like them and so we should not copy their bench strategy

It's OK to copy their plan but you need to build the foundation first to allow that.

Like alot teams have copied the Bellamy way of playing over the years

Bea also likes to use his bench to a plan. He said it himself. Planned interchanges

Thats good and all but if our guys are knackered give them a break.

Mahoney definitely needs a break during the games. But then maybe he's too scared of putting JA on during the time he needs a break.

So let the opposition run over Mahoney cos he is tired. Then the blame goes to Mahoney and not bench selection or use of the bench properly

He tells the team to play eyes up. He should use the bench with eyes open coz there are games where paps and lane are knackered

BA plays his edgies as pseudo middles yet they mostly play 80 each week. They do look gassed often.

I still reckon his interchange plan has something to do with the 16 water bottles Arthur has in the coach's box... maybe he takes a sip out of each one when they've done significant piece of work (hit up, defense) and uses that to plan who needs a break when?

It'd be like Piffy playing the bells, but instead Arthur taking swigs from his many water bottles!

Maybe Arthur's game day water bottles only come in trays of 16, and that's the reason why our #17 never gets a go off the bench...?
