Election thread V2.0

Why don't you take a lead and make a stance, instead of politicising everything.
I'm with you Stagger, Go the Eels!!!

Suity
Is that code for, why don't I not have (or express) an opinion?

I'll be cheering the Eels as usual, but there's not much to discuss about that on Tuesday afternoon, having alreasdy commented on teh announced team.

It's not politicising anything, I voted for a majority of these people, I and others are allowed to have and express an opinion on whether they are living up to my vote, in a thread specifically about a (political?) article.

Do you have an opinion on this issue at all Suit, on whether you think 3P is doing the right or wrong thing here? It's after the election and any need to drum up support etc, so is just a genuine question. Fine if you have no opinion on it, but very strange of you posting to the effect of wanting others to be silent with theirs.

They didnt drop it Bart, they said before the election it was their intention.
Obviously they haven't dropped it, that's what the article and posts in this thread are about . I was referring to the hopes of many about the Eels taking everyone's priorities (supporters and officials) after the elections were over, and the politicking being dropped (unlike in todays article, sadly).

Know all us members have a choice as to whether or not to turn up at the AGM and to vote for or against this....
Indeed, if it is actually not ruled out of order, but I still thought it was OK to discuss opinions on things as well.

Maybe the backroom 3P types need to STFU and let the AGM happen and then let the Board do what they need to do.

I'm just pointing out Bart that it was common knowledge 3P were going to try this on prior to the election. Sevens in fact said so several times in the other thread IIRC. It wasnt a secret.

Indeed, if it is actually not ruled out of order,

Sure, but as a member we can only vote on the motions before us.

Are you going to go along?

but I still thought it was OK to discuss opinions on things as well.

I for one have not said you can't.

Within 36 hours?? They aren't even on the board yet.

Suity
Apparently time enough to get this article in the paper, about further devisiveness rather than getting on with moving teh club forward, and that's what this thread is so far about .

Anything to say on topic Suit, I am genuinely interested in your opinion (and that of others) on the matter of the Special Qualification, rather than engaging the sideshow (as we've been down that route before the votes were over).

I don't think anyone's of the belief it's a secret. Just discussing the merits of it, seeing it's come to media attention.

As members we can vote. On a Tuesday night (as I'd said in the other thread), no I'm not going to make the trip.

But as members of this forum we can discuss issues to do with our club, that's what we did before 3P was a blink in anyone's eye, we did that regardless of AGM motions or not, and I'd imagine that's what we'll do honestly and in good faith well into the future. At least I hope so...

I for one have not said you can't.
Indeed you haven't.

Mate, I've had a gutful of the arguing tbh. Not between you and me, but everyone.

IMO, the election is over, we have a new board, and I just want to get on with supporting my team.
Do I have an opinion? Yes. I think the club would be better served if 3P didn't take this route. Leave Hilditch and Gerard on the board. If I could have voted, I wouldn't have voted for them, but I think every board needs to be held accountable, and these are the only two blokes who can do it.

In saying that, we have had years now of whinging about how hopeles the club was run. How they didn't respect the fans. How they failed in comparison to other clubs. The list is endless. I now have my wish.......new leadership.
My personal opinion is that we have had a good 7 months of arguing all this sh*t, and the day has come when we are now under new direction.
I'd like to sit back and see where that new direction takes us, and I'd like to go back and argue about the football. I'm so sick of the politics tbh.

3P know that if they don't cut it, a new era has dawned. An election in 2 years where their track record will be voted on, and will be discussed like never before.

I'm willing to cut them some slack, see if they fulfill their promises or at least make some headway, and be held accountable for their actions.

So we agree then. Thanks mate, that's all this thread is about - us giving opinions on what 3P have put before today's press. Hopefully there aren't too many more politics stories started up by those surrounding our new Board.

Cool, and agree. And that was the point raised by people comnmenting in this thread - that they wish 3P would do the same and focus on our team/club now instead of the politics and arguing. Hopefully they're reading and will think about that concept.

Agree. Hopefully 3P pick up on that. As I've said, from the tiem election results were in, each "side" (3P and TeamPLC) should no longer be relevant, and all media and talk now on should refer to just the (united) Board and the good of the club. And then we might have some press artciles written about the footy to comment on :thumn

Lol.

You agree with 3 of my opinions, yet bring 3P into each and every one of your replies, once again politicising your replies.

As I said, I've had a gutful.
I'm off to cook dinner.

Sorry Suit, I didn't realise you were of the belief we/I shouldn't mention them ever again...

I was agreeing and then just explaining where I was coming from in the comments here that you had questioned, not "politicising". Sorry that you always seem to interpret things that way.

For me it's nothing to do with cpomparisons to the previous Board, or arguing one side against another (to me the definition of politics?). It's just an opinion...

Of course they should have been able to, it was the FC who built the damn LC in the first place and they had every right to ensure they had a say in it.

Fitzy had nothing to do with that rule, it was in the original 1959 LC constitution to ensure the LC never forgets why it was established in the first place. Has nothing to do with 3P, who I voted for, it's protection against a bunch of gamblers or "business" people gaining control of the LC board and then shafting the FC. I will never support removing it.

Oh well, thats disappointing, because you seem to have a strong opinion on this.

it was this way before Fitzy came along. since 1959 a few have said

Geeze, you guys must have your heads in the sand.

Fitzy was ten when that rule was put in place, he was probably working the numbers way back then as part of the masterplan......

Not really. If it isn't ruled out of order, and if it gains 75% voters in favour, then of course I'll live with it, and realise I had my chance to be one vote against.

But for now, since we're on an internet discussion forum, it's just really about discussing points of view on the issue at hand (as raised by the article) rather than avoiding giving opinions at all, imo.

That's right, get some non footy people on there and the $6m grant could be cut to $1m just like that.

Can we stop discussing all 7 of 3p getting on the board as there is no way on earth it will happen:

1. as per the constitution all members need to be advised of a special resolution 21 days prior to the agm. this means it would have been included in the annual report.

2. if it is changed down the track it will only be for future elections, it cant change a result after it has been declared.

3. the new board dont take over until the end of the agm so they arent going to be able to embarass themselves by calling for a vote that is illegal.

end of story. lets focus on eels smashing the cowboys and the new directors looking like geniuses even though they havent taken office.
