Hull Kingston Rovers are currently flying high in Super League, sitting on top of the table with just five regular seasons to go.

The Robins are one of the true Super League success stories in recent years. The club is going from strength to strength both on and off the field, with their Super League success mirrors in the stands with Craven Park sold out on a regular basis.

Whilst KR’s on-field success has led to head coach, Willie Peters, turning heads in the NRL, off the field, clubs are starting to take note as well.

According to reports in France, a French club coached by a former Hull Kingston Rovers and Leeds Rhinos player, are keen to secure a strategic link-up with the East Hull side.
Sporting Olympique Avignon XIII currently play in the French Elite One and were founded in 1908. During their heyday in the 1950s, they would regularly attract crowds of over 10,000.

In a proud history, the club has won five French Cup trophies and won the National Championship for the first time in 2018.

According to the French paper, Le Dauphine, Avignon are keen to secure a strategic partnership with Super League side, Hull KR, to help both sides continue to develop.

The report states: “The President, Younes Khattabi, is continuing to actively work behind the scenes to establish a strategic partnership with Super League club, Hull KR”.

In a previous article on the subject, published in Le Dauphine in May, the goal of the partnership was outlined as follows: “The partnership opens the door to an international collaboration, offering opportunities for development and exchange between the two clubs”.
