Matras will be a very improved horse on her first up run. Drawn a lot better and the mile suits. She is class. Octopussy a very good win first start in Australia and will be hard to beat. As will Star Shiraz.

Fantasia will run well and I expect to see Cinque Cento improve over this distance.

going with the topweight here STAR SHIRAZ. has got the best formlines in this race and deserves the 58kg. she can carry weight well and should benefit from the speed up front

other chances are MATRAS, CINQUE CENTO, OCTAPUSSY and FANTASIA. treifecta should come from here (even though they are the top 5 in betting  )

ill be with the favourite, Octopussy, as a clear stand out in this. i cant fault its win last start, first up.. and with D.Beadman aboard, makes it hard to go past.

i think Star Shiraz , But I'mSerious(Value) & Matra will fight out the minors

Racenet Preview -

Race 8 EMANCIPATION STAKES (1600m) at 4.15pm

Joice’s thoughts – The form-lines through Star Shiraz are impeccable and she looks a great bet at around the 6/1 mark. Charged home when just missed in the Coolmore then didn’t get the clearest of paths when 5th in the Queen Of The Turf. Drops back to Group Two company and will relish Randwick and there should be enough speed to set it up for her at the business end. Octapussy looked smart winning at her only Aussie start but is unders at 5/2 and is stepping from welter company to Group Two class. Matras is sure to improve on her first-up effort in the Royal Parma Stakes but needs to make up about 4 lengths in order to match it with the top two.

Payne’s thoughts – Star Shiraz looks the one to beat here. She the one that has the gun formlines and I’m expecting to appreciate the Randwick mile. I do think Matras will improve tomorrow. Looked a bit tubby when resuming at Rosehill but there’s no doubt this is the race she is here for so she’ll be ready and Fantasia has gone well at her last two and should be competitive again here.

Joice’s Tips – Star Shiraz (1), Octapussy (8), Matras (2)
Payne’s Tips – Star Shiraz (1), Matras (2), Fantasia (10)
