Just further points as to how poorly managed the ENWC was from the RLIF.

It's strange how they've allowed a Second ENWC to be played yet the RLIF have said "Look...go off, make a business plan and then come back to us and we'll tell you if we like it or not".

After pulling the plug on the first one, not offer a shred of compensation for ENWC teams and then ask them to fork out more man power and not even offering to help organise it or $$$ is just very wrong!

This is going ahead with $100,000 of funding, November 2018 in Sydney.

As to the concerns raised in here, they've announced combined-region teams (Latin Heat, Africa United, Scandinavia) will not enter the tournament proper but play an adjacent tournament.

I'm ok with this result, and excited for the tournament. Hopefully they rule minimum domestic quotas on squads. While I don't believe this should be the case for the professional-quality World Cup, a development tournament should be focused on good development practices. Here's hoping we don't see teams with Aussies 1-17 running around.

HOWEVER - it's a bit rotten that the RLIF have basically taken the work of the original organisers (of which Robert Burgin and Latin Heat played a large part), pushed them aside after asking them to do the leg work (expensive feasability studies, recruiting other nations), and are now claiming the credit.
He said a few weeks back when this all started that they've been described as vikings, pillaging and taking over the work of others without bothering to plant a seed themselves. Here's the proof of that.

In a sport that desperately needs people at the absolute lowest grassroots encouraging others to pick a ball and play, with a tiny international following, it's pretty f**king poor form to piss on the few people who do devote their time and money to doing something the RLIF should be doing in the first place.

I dont know why there is opposition to an EMWC. International Rugby league is barely played as it is so for me its more games the merrier. Yes develop the local game in these Countries but they should also be given the chance to compete at a meaningful tournament as something to aim for cos even with a good domestic league, they're light-years away from footing it with the best and making the Proper World Cup. I do hope theres a domestic quota rule in place.

I also have no problem with teams like the Latin Heat. Similar to the West Indies in Cricket where not a lot of fuss made over their existence.

Glad it's going ahead.

Hopefully not a tournament full of sydney lads with appropriate grand
parent heritage filling squads. I really fear it will be however.

A credit to the originators and supporting leagues.

I'm looking forward to being on the ground and supporting Hong Kong during the tournament.

It's great how the RLIF has helped endorse this tournament publicly and given the thumbs up straight away.

I just hope that what happened with the 2017 one doesn't occur with this tournament.
