Actually no they cant fford to lose any team, they just signed a billion $ deal. If they lose a team they lose a gameslot and Millions of $.
To be honest, for games involving other Sydney teams, yes I do. Whatever decrease there is in Sharkies supporters who wouldn't travel to the SFS or ANZ would more than likely be more than made up by the opposition fans going to the game who wouldn't have travelled down to the Shire. Is that an ideal situation for Cronulla? Probably not, but I don't think crowd numbers would necessarily fall due to a move. Realistically I think any "centralised stadium" policy would need to allow for a small number of games still to be played at the "local ground".
That said, instead of moving to ANZ or the SFS, maybe the Sharkies would consider taking their home games to Hunter Stadium in Newie. That ground might be looking for a new tennant very, very soon :sarcasm:
They'd start another club in another location in a heart beat. They wouldn't be one club down.
the majority of sharks fans who go to games live in the shire.
There will be a massive fall in crowd figures if they were to move to the SFS.
The games against teams who are based near the stadium will be ok I would imagine.
But other games would go to shit.. crowd wise.
Imagine cowboys v Sharks at the SFS on a monday night middle of winter?
ghost town.
Don't think the NRL would consider this when they do the draw either.
They never have had any idea what so ever when it comes to scheduling games.
With all due respect, do you really think the Sharkies crowds could go any more to shit than they already are? 4 homes games under 9,000 in each of the past 3 years is hardly what I'd call an advertisment for staying at a local ground.
Yes by moving them to SFS.
So with respect if our crowds have been below 9K 4 times in the past 3 seasons that isnt an advertsiement or even smart business sense to move it to a larger stadium further from your fan base and get what maybe 5K?
You can agree to disagree but i just cant see how you are right that moving it is a better idea than leaving it.
Until the sharks (and other sydney clubs) are consistently selling games out then the thought of moving games should not be considered.
The gameday loss of patronage to the club is massive.
20-30,000 tickets
Sharks v Cowboys at the sfs on a rainy monday night in the middle of winter?
Around 2k. Maybe 3k if the sharks were travelling well.
5k would be simply impossible
get on stage ...you are wasting your material in here.
Has there been any announcement about free public transport with every ticket for the NSW clubs? I really think it needs to be a priority for the NRL to sort this out with Venues NSW or whatever. It'll make it more palatable for other fans and casuals to turn up to games at the SFS and SA.
This is the exact kind of situation that the NRL could assist with if it's at a central stadium. Discount tickets for members of other clubs, schoolkids getting in free, etc.

If both teams are going well, playing entertaining footy, with decent weather, I don't see why not.
You seem to assume that 1) no Sharkies supporters live outside of the Shire, 2) that those in the Shire won't travel and 3) that the opposition fans wouldn't turn up in droves (just because they don't current drive down to the Shire).
