From the guardian:

'But Matt Parish’s freewheeling, passionate Samoans led England 10-6 and 22-20 before tries by the Tomkins brothers, Joel and Sam, saved the day.'

Such a shame Samoa hasnt played the big three since that tournament....

England definitely struggled against Samoa. It will be a great game next year.

TRIPLE TREAT FOR SYDNEY

SYDNEY will host a historic midyear international triple-header in 2017 as part of the build-up to the World Cup.

The Wayne Bennett-coached England side will play Samoa, while Papua New Guinea meets Tonga and Fiji face the Cook Islands. It will be part of an extended representative round when there will be no NRL matches that weekend.

Australia will play New Zealand in the annual midyear Test on the Friday night, with City versus Country on the Sunday — in what is set to be the final clash of the bush boys and city slickers.

It’s expected the international triple-header will be played on the Saturday but it remains to be seen how many Super League players would be allowed to play — meaning Trent Hodkinson, Darcy Lussick and Chris Heighingtoncould play for England.

Triple header seems like a bit of a joke, hard to expect the average fan to stay/keep interest for 6 hours.

For next year I would have prefered Lebanon V ??? join with England V Samoa then have a separate Pacific Double Header.

Yeah.. Samoa v England at least should be standalone.

Devalues the games a bit I think. Double headers max. As posted in another thread from 201i onwards I would split the Pacific games to Polynesia & Melanesia Cup/Shield double headers. Then you could have NZ V England & Lebanon V whoever every year, making it 6 regular midseason Internationals in Australia/NZ/Pacific alone.

Thats why its important they play next may,we need to introduce the team to the lebanese-australians...i reckon we could easily see 30k lebanese fans turn up at the SFS if we promote the team
