Sri Lanka 207/4 at lunch. Samaraweera beginning to look a bit more comfortable at the crease despite being vulnerable to swing due to his reluctance to come on to the front foot.

Very pleased that the openers didn't fall to the new ball in English conditions. Paranavitana seems to be in very good form, got ton's in both warm up games.

Pretty pissed off at Sri Lanka's team selection though, why they would have P.Jayawardene at number 6 is beyond me. There is 2 gun wicket keeper batsman in the squad in Kaushal Silva and Dinesh Chandimal who can handle 6. Jayawardene is the worst batsman of the lot by a country mile!

A couple of early wickets tonight and England will rip through probably.
Jayawardene must have heard you Daz  Well it worked ;-)

He looked really good out there from what I saw of him.

Sri Lanka got their breakthrough they desperately needed. However, I don't think that playing 2 spinners on this track will do too much to scare England's batting.

Oh well you can put your house on Herath dismissing Pietersen.

My criticism of Jayawardene was warranted :D He had a test average of 30 before that. We need to pick 6 batsman and Prasanna at 7. However it was a really good performance. Shame about Maharoof's dismissal because he is in decent form.

Yep agreed. Your tail is weak enough at the best of times and having another batsman in there would strengthen your lineup.

Mathews injury caused all of this uncertainty. He will be back for Australia's visit in August. There has not been many times where Sanga and Jayawardene have failed and Sri Lanka still manage 400. The in batting depth in the country is outstanding. There is a lot of pressure being applied on the incumbents.

Must make the Australian bowlers feel a little better, not even Dale Steyn could stop these two, the form their in. Faultless batting

Cook now with 17 Test tons, yet still only 26.

To put it in perspective, he's already just five short of the England record

Trott surely has ICC Cricketer of the Year in the bag?

An incredible run he's having, in both forms of the game

Rain :x

Think I'm right in saying that Sri Lanka's last 4 Tests have been washouts?

All 3 Tests against the Windies were drawn due to rain

Dreadful luck
