Makes life interesting for the super sub Casey McGuire, or my old mate Barry Berrigan. Surely the Bronc's will want him on the park as much as possible simply to kick goals.

The way I thought this cap issue worked is:

Ennis gets paid all of what his contract is worth a year, but it wont count towards Dragons cap.

What I remember it is that the Dragons may pay for Ennis (or part of it), but it does not count towards their cap, it counts toward's brisbane's!

Macuire will still play but it may be in a backrower role. Berrigan may start the game with Ennis coming on after the initial 20 mins!

Ennis is an 80 minute hooker, not a bench player. The Dragons used him from the bench because they had to, to fit everyone in their team but the Broncos must play him 80 minutes at hooker. Plus Barry Berrigan can't play second row like Dean Young, so they can't copy what the Dragons did.

The balance between Ennis's Dragon's contract and what the Bronco's pay will come out of the Dragons cap for 2006.. I can guarentee that.. However if the Bronco's pay Ennis as much or more than his current contract then he will not count against the Dragons contract..

The posts saying that it won't come out of the Dragons cap as he won't be playing for them is garbage.. On that basis clubs could cut contracted players willy nilly and not worry about them counting against their cap in future as of course once cut they would no longer be playing for them..

And they do. Your club does it a lot, I don't mean that in a negative way either. The cap wants a team to only be spending a certain amount of money to keep the playing field equal. It's irrelevant what you're payng to other players if they aren't in your squad. Why do you think your club dropped cusack, hegarty, payten etc?

great signing by the broncos.
One clubs loss is anothers gain.
Dont know why he would want out of the club after one yr. Cant be homesickness as he is now in another state

He didn't want out. The Dragons salary cap troubles seemingly forced him out......

not according to the dragons chairman. Ennis asked for a release.

I'd guess though that the salary cap had more than a lot of things to do with it. Given his good season I'd guess the incentives may not have helped the Dragons.

I understand that (due to current Salary Cap issues) Dragons Management's options were very limited. Once Ennis' Manager found out the extent of the Cap issues, they sought a release, knowing that it would be granted.

I also understand that if these Cap issues didn't exist, Dragons Management would not have been granting him a release.

I hate Ennis the angry little man....now that he is at the Broncos I have even more reason to hate him.

Thank you.

Heres how it works
If the dragons were paying ennis 150000 a season and eleased him and the broncos offered him 80000 saints would have to pay up the differance of 70000 a season.

So 70000 would count against the dragons, and 80000 against the broncos.

If ennis asked for a release from his contract nothing would count against the dragons and he would only get what he was offered by the broncos.

In firmans case it is a 50/50 split between the roosters and cowboys.

In finchs case the roosters are offering to pay his wages at another club for the next 4 yrs which would count against our cap but some other club would have to put up with him.

In Finch's case it is 2 years as that is the remaining length of his current contract.. Though possibly as a sweetener they have offered a bonus of 2 more..

Thats not how it was reported in the press in Grand Final week.(That doesnt mean you are wrong, but Im just saying)

They reported it as the Cowboys pay Firman Match payments only.

Back on Topic:Thats two off-seasons in a row the Broncos have picked up a player with unquestioned talent but questionable attitude (Ennis & Hodges).

If Bennett can turn around the attitude of Ennis like he did Hodges, Ennis could go to the next level. (He is already pretty good)

Yeah hopefully a few young boys come in and stand up next year, Bott played good for an 18 year old in his first season, but the season was a bit long for him. And he is a bit short under the high ball!
