And I'm a Spurs supporter and I don't think they'll come third!

Would Everton supporters have said that they thought they would come 4th last year? Wigan I think will surprise a few people, and Newcastle are destined to disappoint again, although Arsenal may struggle even more than I thought.

Dont know anything about soccer but rest assured this will be it

1. Chelsea
2. Arsenal
3. Man Utd
4. Daylight
5-21. The rest.

(1-3 interchangeable in any order depending on injuries etc)

Don't be too quick to write them off mate. It is still a very talented squad Reyes and Van Pirsie are good enough to support Henry. Hleb looks to be a top buy. Vieira will be a huge loss of the park, he had a presence like Tony Adams. But on the park, IMO he was on the way down. He had to ice his knees after every game. They cashed in before it was too late. As long as they don't have a whole heap of injuries they will be right up there.

Careful... They finished 14th last season and you could argue they have not strengthed thier squad when you take into account the players that left. Parker, good buy as is Emre. They look light weight up top for me...

Mate you are probably right. The 3 mentioned, Man U and Arsenal in particular will need to have a horror run of injuries to be out of the top 3. Chelsea can cover them. Plenty of teams you could throw in for the top 5 though.

what a great opening week!

chelsea scrape home against new side wigan.

arsenal beat newcastle in controversial fashion.

gerrard fails to give liverpool victory as he misses chance after chance.

and 4 red cards!

bring on week 2!

Whoever thinks that West Ham will get relegated this season is a complete nutter. Just seeing their last two games(win over Blackburn, 10 man draw against Newcastle at St. James Park) and also when they were in the Championship just shows me they have a bit of quality around the midfielders which will get them out of the relegation zone.

I thought it would be interesting to compare people's predictions with the way the season is shaping up.

Current Ladder - My Prediction:

1 Chelsea (2nd)
2 Wigan Athletic (9th)
3 Bolton Wanderers (4th)
4 Manchester United (7th)
5 Arsenal (5th)
6 Tottenham Hotspur (3rd)
7 Manchester City (14th)
8 Charlton Athletic (11th)
9 West Ham United (18th)
10 Newcastle United (19th)
11 Blackburn Rovers (13th)
12 Liverpool (1st)
13 Middlesbrough (6th)
14 Fulham (12th)
15 Portsmouth (17th)
16 Everton (8th)
17 Aston Villa (10th)
18 West Bromwich Albion (20th)
19 Birmingham City (15th)
20 Sunderland (16th)

Not too bad, but some deadset horrible picks. Liverpool to win the Premiership? What was I thinking!

I believe Man Utd will still finish outside the top 5... they are woeful this season. Wigan should stay in the top 10, while Liverpool will be lucky to make it there the way they are playing.
