Engage Super League XII has been the best supported season in the history of the competition - attracting an average weekly attendance of over 10,000 per game for the first time ever.
The average attendance at the completion of the 27 round regular season is 10,264 per game per week (last season's average at the end of the season was 9,026 per game per week).
An aggregate total of 1,662,800 supporters have passed through the gates at engage Super League stadia.
That figure exceeds the 1,516,342 who turned out during the 28 round regular season in 2006.
Last year's figures represented an all time high for Super League (which began in 1996) and that record has been broken again by this current campaign.
The continued growth of engage Super League's average attendance has been fuelled by the growth of attendances within many individual club marketplaces.
Bradford Bulls, Huddersfield Giants, Wakefield Wildcats and Warrington Wolves have shown a year on year increase in their average attendances.
In fact Huddersfield Giants have averaged over 7,000 for the first time since the 1957/58 season. Wakefield Trinity Wildcats have recorded their best average attendances in the Super League era and have seen their average crowd increase by 90 per cent over the last four years.
Leeds Rhinos, Catalans Dragons, Salford City Reds, Hull FC and Wigan Warriors have also shown year on year increases in their average attendances.
In addition, Hull Kingston Rovers have attracted an average gate for their engage Super League debut which is an 111 per cent increase on their 2006 average weekly gate.
Following Friday night's attendance of 19,776 for the game against Wakefield at Headingley Carnegie Stadium, Leeds Rhinos posted their highest average attendance since the Second World War.
The Rhinos final average is 17,558 per game which means they have regained their crown as the UK's best supported rugby club of either code.
Also Wigan Warriors have broken a 19 year old attendance record after attracting a crowd of 22,031 for Friday night's game against St Helens.
Commenting on the crowd boom, the RFL's Chief Operating Officer Nigel Wood said, "This record breaking season shows that engage Super League continues to grow and develop at a very healthy rate.
"The League's consistent ability to break attendance records is proof of it's unique appeal as a family sporting experience and we are delighted to confirm these all time high crowd figures."
Wood added: "Congratulations must go to those clubs who have worked to maintain a growth in their audiences and the overall effect means that engage Super League maintains its integral place in the British sporting summer.
"We believe the growth in attendances has also been driven by the most competitive and unpredictable season ever and we expect even more excitement and spectacle as the play-offs get underway."
