Or maybe, just maybe, you don't have the full story.

That's kind of the point.
There is more to it, regarding Elliot, than what this article shows. There is simply more to it than the Carney story - Gafa and Bulgarelli, for example. Those two were "untouchables" at the selection table, most would agree.

Then there is Purtell who has only scored a handful of tries this year. I'm sure that there are forwards (obviously Tongue is one) who have scored more tries than him. I feel Elliot must take some responsibility for this simply because he either kept selecting a non-performer, or he allowed the side to play a style that did not see the ball get out to Purtell often enough.

I think people are drawing a long f**king bow if they are backing Elliott's decision not to play Carney due to "disciplinary reasons".

So what has Zillman get up to that we havent heard of yet ??

Irrespective of Carneys extra cirricula activities he would have been third pick behind Withers and Smith. Withers has been a real hack for the best part of this season and Smith hasnt been much better while Zillman has been racking up a try scoring feast in PL making the best defenders look like statues.

Sure, and for those with short memories, Gafa and Bulgarelli both absolutely carved it up in reggies - Gafa with a record haul of points. Remember the 'Gafa must play' push? I remember looking at him in reserves and wondering why a player with 340 odd season points couldn't get a start.

Reminds me precisely of Zillman now. I wonder in a year or two we'll be seeing the same 'why the hell is Henry persisting with this muppet?' threads?

And Dubby - Yeah, I've given up completely on Bay and co....just hoping there are still one or two open minds out there...the sort of person who can read the article, read Bay's post and then ask themselves why Bay would choose to ignore a direct quote from the player involved simply because it didn't suit his arguement.

Give it a break T_R ... you are sounding more like a broken record every day.

Tell me dude what explanatation do you give for Zillmans 20 mins of FG football this year .... do you think soon we'll see an article in the paper concerning his misdemeanors off the footy field.

Keep on making excuses for Elliott mate.

Seems to me that you are choosing to ignore some glaring facts, TR. Both Bulgarelli and Gafa were selected week in, week out after having performed poorly in the games. Who cares about what happens at training if they can't do the same on the weekend when it really counts?

Instead of being overlooked for players in PL who were carving it up, as you put it, they were selected virtually every week after poor performances. Bulgarelli was at the bottom of the heap when it came to handling, and Gafa was a bit lazy in defence, imo.

Also, PL players don't always make the step up to NRL level. Some do, and some don't. It is as simple as that. I don't think that Gafa or Bulgarelli were NRL level players - an opinion I'm sure a lot on here would agree with.

Gafa had a good first season then fell apart in his last season with us. Boogs was solid but that error in the final series is what hes remembered for.
