Timely post. Today I got the good oil on Ice and why he's suddenly going so good at Parra. My source, from deep inside the Eels, said Ice has told them he's now 'getting treated like a human-being, with respect, dignity, etc' He said over at the Warriors they 'treat you like s***'. My source also said Ice has a couple of his mates at the Warriors who also want to come to the Eels.

It was not what I wanted to hear, but my source is reliable and wouldn't bs me.

Honestly, I think everyone is the hero of their own story. I’m sure that when Papalii started playing poorly and continued to slide, yes the coaching staff were probably tough on him. Papalii had 43 errors/penalties in his last 2 years...and that doesn’t even take into consideration the lazy or boneheaded plays that he would occasionally make. I think it comes down to mentality, he obviously had a ‘poor me’ attitude despite continuing to play poorly.

I can assure you, if he starts playing like that at Eels he’s going to start wondering why he gets ‘treated like shit’ at a second club

If in his final year with us he played one game with the gusto he has all year for the Eels then he would have instantly been lauded and loved...

Wasn't the biggest fan when he was here but we could definitely do worse than having Herbert at centre right now.

I had a fit of the giggles watching how slow Blake Green was last weekend.

Look, obviously, he's still a competent NRL half, his kicking game is right up there and he's wily, but his lack of speed off the mark is resthome stuff!

Big Ben Matulino, a great Warrior. What is he doing with the rest of his life? It is often a sporting star's biggest challenge that.

The other variable is the way he's being used.

It's just not comparing apples.

But he's clearly happier.

Did any of you hear Ennis' takedown of Shaun Johnson last week? I think it was on NRL 360.
He didn't flat out say he was shit, but couldn't of inferred it more strongly. He said Moylan and Townsend is a much better option for the Sharks than Johnson and Townsend and said the players absolutely love playing with Moylan and banging on about he goes right to the line and basically gets down and dirty. It came across very clearly that he was also saying the opposite applies to Johnson. It was pretty brutal, but hard to argue with.

Wonder if a halves pairing at one club ends up pairing at another club has happened very often before in the NRL?

I recall they were pretty annoying combo at the Warriors 2014-2015. Both could have their good days, but often one would stink it up as a plodder (Townsend) and a dude who faded in and out (Shaun). Nothing has changed.

End of 2015 Johnson was playing well though I think, running game going and way more physically engaged. That try where he broke his ankle was such a shame, cause he busted through I think 3 players to get the ball over the line, and that was probably the last he ever went hard
