Ex-Warriors CEO not sorry over breach

Mick Watson may be scum, but it's nothing to do with this issue. The rules were broken yes, but i'll bet my bottom dollar that there are a lot of skeletons lurking in the closet of other clubs around...and they'll probably never be uncovered. I believe most if not all clubs would be committing the same infringements as the warriors did to some agree. If it werent for the naivety of the incoming CEO ,this never would have come to light.

The salary cap auditor noticed something wrong though, and was going back to make a more thorough investigation when the Warriors officials "noticed" the irregularities.

The Warriors have had some PR diasters over the years but Maurice Kidd really takes the cake. I'll admit theres some extremly naive types in NZ but even those would struggle to fall for Watson as the sole scapegoat. Kidd had to know about the breaches and therefore should crawl into the same stinking hole that Watson currently resides in and if he didn't then it only shows him up as incompetent and just as good a reason to sack him.

Also if Watson truely is the devil reincarnated then why is he will employed by Cullen Sports? Go figure, we're quickly heading back to the era of the late 90's were continually the butt of the countries jokes.

Scurrah (the new CEO) is either very smart or very stupid. If it is as you suggested and the breaches are the sort that could have been covered up and every club does it, he's naive and stupid. If however the auditors already had a sniff of what was going on he's smart and he's probably saved the club some punishment and saved his administration and the club's image to a large degree.
One thing's for sure, the auditors are going to be looking VERY closely at most clubs over the next year, and I won't be surprised if somebody else goes down.

I have no idea why my post would be deleted when it said exactly what is said in this message!

But I was also just clarifying what I said in my previous post (which wasn't very clear about what I was trying to say) - I reckon the Warriors were in the process of being found out, which is why the CEO confessed and hoped for a more lenient penalty.

I'm assuming you mean still. This from tvnz.co.nz

Watson said he had not spoken about the salary cap breaches to the man widely blamed for them - former chief executive Mick Watson.

He would not comment further about the Australian, who ran the club for five years, except to say he no longer worked for Cullen Sports.

That could be merely clever wording. I think I remember him talking about taking a job elsewhere in the Cullen Group (away from Cullen Sports).

He's also got his house in Auckland up for auction so I daresay he's on the move or been moved.

Hopefully before it's burnt down by irate Warriors fans.

 sh*t, wheres me matches.

mick watson was good for the warriors when he first came along, things started going to the pack when they started toying with Pacific Islands S12 teams and such. Mick was in charge of Cullen Sports then i believe and Spiro Tsiros(sp) took over as Warriors boss. I believe that was the begining of the end .

still, as long as the current regime has learnt something out of this whole sorry saga.
we (warriors fans) have got to look ahead, we are wasting our time looking back.

Very interesting as the media only a matter of a couple of days ago were reporting that he was still employed by Cullen Sports.

Don't bet on it, this managements cold hearted motives were exposed with the Pacifica Rugby team scandal.
