I don't mind the exactas. But geez I gotta learn to box them!!!

Washed the car before heading down the street to get some maccas for lunch. TAB is across the road from maccas.

Went in and had a few $5 ones.

1st one - 1st and 2nd round the wrong way in photo
2nd one - 1st and 4th
3rd one - 1st and 2nd round the wrong way
4th one - 2nd and 3rd

1st one paid $48 (was $69 the way I had it) and the 3rd one paid $23 (similar the way I had it).

Bugger, bugger, bugger!

Dude, just get into the practice of forking out $10 instead of $5 by boxing both and its just like a quinella ... doesnt matter who wins and you get 5 times the money.

Most of my bets are first 4's though .... stand out the winner, pick 5 horses each for 2nd, 3rd, 4th ... for $10 you can share in the First 4 prizemoney at 16.6 %

Believe me, ive made a killing that way ... im not greedy, and im happy to share

Luck was the thing. Tha leader (the fav) died in the arse. Gave her nowhere to go! Let me know her next run. Hopefully get 4 or 5/1......

Not abad percentage for the first 4 there. Would think it would make more than the exactas most the time right? My problem is having the time to pick out the others. I do the exactas with a quick look before the race when I drop into the TAB.

Actually not necessarily. If you get the first 4 favourites, then its not really much more than a low paying trifecta. But, I always pick at least one roughie (over 20/1) when selecting my 5 horses for 2nd 3rd and 4th, sometimes two to be guaranteed a decent prize pool. Id rather sacrifice a certain win for value. Almost pulled off the Melbourne Cup first four last year ($80 grand) ... bloody Xcellent dudded me, but i had On a Jeune as my major roughie in there as well as Leica Falcon and standing out The Diva to win.

If you use the same methodology for a trifecta ... i.e. stand out the winner and pick 5 horses each for second and third, then for $10 you get 50% of the prize pool. Which is good odds, but you always kick yourself if you get 4th in there as well ;-)

Im a big believer in that OVP. I always adopt that startegy for Flexis Tris and First 4's.
