Fitness!!!!
We are not fit enough.

1.)we are not fit enough to caryy a few deadwood players like Bickers, isemonger, Franze etc.

2)we are not fit enough to compete in the rucks. This means flops, holding down in frustration

3) We are not fit enough to get back quickly, this loops back to 2.

4) We are not fit enough to make solidtackles for 80 minutes. Arm grabs & air swing pop up everywhere.

5)We are not fit enough to back up

6) We are not fit enough to put power sets on

7) We are not fit enough to win dominant tackles

8) We are not fit enough to be creative.

This one I totally agree with - I watched them at the Gosford trials weeks ago and thought that then. (No good hit out).
Struggled with tigers
fell off v manly
absolute Sheit tonight.

Discipline - Nutley has to have a spell among others. Need changes now even if its just to put a rocket up them.

I'm just guessing here, but should we get fitter btr?

That was 1 small problem tonight...

We have graver problems than that.

Reefy, I TOTALLY agree with you 100%. I will also go on to say that it is now evident that our preseason schedule AND trial schedule simply was not good enough. Playing trials against anyone but NRL teams simply is a waste of time.

Couldnt agree more with that observation. One of a handful of problems Raper will have to deal with. This will definately test him and give us an indication of his true coaching ability.

No team has the fitness to do 100+ more tackles than their opposition.
I thought it was so obvious our lack of discipline.

How does Danny Nutley believe that dragging a guy who's already tackled back into the in-goal is alright?

Do any of the forwards know the rules of the game? And who are the worst offenders: Stevens, Bailey, Nutley, Beattie - the high-profile guys.

We used up all our petrol in the first half trying to cover up out-and-out stupidity. At least the result wasn't 74-4 - but it was going in that direction.

We used to be the most disciplined side in the comp. Then last year we became renowned for our lack of discpline. We will not beat anyone while players think that they know the rules better than the ref.

SR has heaps of front of him.

I think Raper should bite the bullet and try and promote some young and willing blokes. There's no point persisting with a dysfunctional team that Anderson has left. Nutley should go, and Aitken must be given a run with Birdy's likely suspension.

Somethings gotta be done. Our first penalty was on the FIRST tackle in the bunnies first set of 6 of the game (Isemonger).

I don't know what Raper has to do to get these guys to wake up to themselves, but if it means dropping some of our established players then do it. Cause I can't stand watching penalty after penalty get awarded to the other team

There has to be some real individual disincentive for players who are consistently giving away penalties - Bailey, Nutley, Stevens - fines to start with and then loss of game time for those that continue to infringe. Bird was disgraceful and disgusting but Nutley pulling the player back was just idiotic

I reckon we are missing a strong captain on the field. Noddy is not going to roast them, even peach probably wouldn't. ET, gav - those blokes would have shredded nutley, stevens bird etc for all these dumb things - no respect for opposition, no respect for each other, no respect for anything.

My thoughts exactly. Kimmorley is a piss-weak captain...only seems to go any good with the 'c' next to his name when we're playing well. How about we get ET to do a come back job for us? Maybe Mitch Healey and hell...Steve Rogers as well...and the Rat, injury and all.

Alright, ive gone off on a tangent again...I think Raper needs to take a long hard look at the team he's selected. It jsut isn't clicking. Next week, we should be back to form. If not...we got problems ahead of us.

Discipline is a descendant of fitness.
There is such a fine line between "well done" & "penalty"
The problem that everyone sees as dicipline, I believe is a fitness issue. They are not doing anything different to other teams. But they are doing it poorly. Because of lack fitness.

I actually feel for nutley tonight because I think his reputation got him tonight on 2 occasions.
Last night, Fittler was not held. They scored.
Tonight, this player was not held, nutley grabbed his leg & pulled him back. Poor ruling.
on the other occasion, it was a clear cut dominant tackle & the standard peel off happened. But for some reason, Nutley was penalised.
Legacy of Anderson making us a cellar dwellar club. We get shafted with part time refs who get a few wrong.

Our reputation now precedes us. IMO the only way to get over this is to cop it sweet on the paddock no matter how bad a decision it is. Who has ever seen a ref change a decision after being challenged by a player. We have dug our own hole not only from our previous season's attitude but also for continuing with it this year. I've nearly had enough of supporting a team that is constantly argueing with the ref. They have become an embarrassment to the shire and supporters. Stuart Raper has to exert his authority now.
