Yeah let's benefit the richer clubs even more by giving them freedom to spend as much money outside of the cap as they want, which then benefits them by being able to spend more money in the cap on less players.

So next time the Roosters are under salary cap pressure, they can just get rid of some nuffie near the bottom of the cap, sign a superstar union player on huge money, and keep the other players they want to keep. The rich get richer. Great result for rugby league.

Salary cap dispensations for players from other codes always have been, and always will be, a dumb idea.

There just isn't enough talent in Australian Union at the elite level to make it even remotely feasible anyway.

This short term cherry picking will result in a handful of players at best, and not be sustainable.

Firstly. I am certainly not in disagreement on whether we should be investing more in junior development.

Secondly. 100% it's a short term cherry picking exercise and not at all sustainable.

So I'm in agreement.
However, this proposal isn't about any of that.
It is as short-term and as sugar hit necessary as the need for 60 additional first graders within a 2 year time period.

We will need 60 new first graders asap, ideally not by raiding our existing player pool depth like Super League, Qcup ect.

A salary cap exemption window of up to 2 million per club for 5 years from 2027 for players outside of Rugby league as a bridge gap while we are developing our pathways and junior talent- that needs to start yesterday.

We can't just suddenly decide that 60 players are ready for NRL a year early. That'll be a disaster for thier development and probably only put us at a greater deficit

That why its important to get NYC operational in a professional pathways model

Then get National RG operational a year later again in a professional pathways model

Interesting that it's got their attention and it should if Perth are smart enough to follow through.
The Bears should have a full time scout based in South Africa.
