Expansion into Universities

Also expand into high schools.
Local clubs are okay but school comps should be explored and emphasised because I think it is going to get increasingly difficult for local clubs to attract kids (kids don’t want to give up there weekend as they prefer gaming etc). The US model of high school Friday night lights should be explored.

A lot of high schools in QLD have specialist Rugby League programs. Most well known being Keebra Park in Southport, Wavell Heights and Marsden in Brisbane.

Do they have a good comp to play in or is it just that schoolboys cup 3 game comp then finals?
To me the aim should be to have all (or most) schools have a team playing in a 8 game comp.

In Perth we have 6 high school scholarship programs.
That is good. But I am talking more about a means of making the sport bigger, getting more kids who wouldn’t play league playing league. A similar system to what they have in America. Ideally the school league team should be the most important sports team at every school. With womens sport taking off there is an opportunity.
If there is a kid at school who is pretty good at soccer and is fast for example he probably would never play weekend footy but get him into the school league program.

I‘ve oft said touch footy is the perfect sport for school curriculum. From there you can build nines comps and then xiii comps. It should be renamed to “RL touch” though.
