I'm surprised not to see a thread on him this morning... After the city v country when he let Mcrone stroll past him for a soft try i said there's no way we can pick him for origin. Especially with the talent we have in the back row.. Fast forward a few months and looks what happens. That useless merkin from the Melbourne storm does the exact same thing. No overlap just plants his feet throws a hand out and let's hodges stroll right by. Then goes down the other end and tackles that other Melbourne storm merkin in the air.. And gives the game away..

Not to mention in the first half when the pea hearted merkin gets taken down by hodges with an arms tackle when he had all but scored... Any of our other back rowers score that try.

Him and Pearce cost us the game.

So f**king pissed off....

I thoight he was solid. Didnt do anything great, but appart from that tackle in the air, also didnt do j e thing wrong.

Watmough dropping the ball in the play the ball had a bigger impact on the game. So did Bird giving away the first penalty. But your not bagging them.

P.s. I hate Melbourne and their players, but cant pretend he was the reason we lost.

didn't do anything wrong... do me a favour and watch Hodges try again and then come back and tell me what you think.

Watmough dropped one ball and it didn't cost us points how is that a bigger impact on the game then directly letting in a try?.. he more than made up for it with his running. changed the game when he came on. sure bird gave away a penalty but these two are consistently some of our best players.

Hoffman on the other hand...

Ryan Hoffman is another bog average clown. Good at running at centres, halves and wingers but does f**k all up the middle. Are NSW really that light on for backrowers ?

He's the prototypical new age backrower. Just stays in his channel out wide, and never comes in to do any tough stuff.

Not saying he was crap but was useless. Wasting space out there. He is a good hole runner but our halves wouldn't know how to put someone through a gap unless it was SBW...

Gone next year.

Sounds like a Sam Thaiday. Hoffman just didn't have the luxury of a James Maloney to target for three games. Other than that, they're practically the same. Both have no impact or penetration when they run into a capable defender.

Hoffman did his job in taking up hit ups. He just didn't have the penetration.

Put in the Ben Creagh category - both very similar in terms of the impact on a game. In other words - negligible. As a Queensland, am always happen when either one of these players get picked.

Hoffman wouldn't have been picked if Glenn Stewart had been fit and Tony Williams was playing anything like his potential.

Watched the replay, Hoffman was defending 1 in from Morris, Jennings nowhere to be seen, Hoffman basically had to cover both Cronk and Hodges, also Fifita initiated contact with Slater!

Maloney stepped up his defense last night

Tackles [missed]
James Maloney 25 [0]
Ryan Hoffman 24 [3]

"Watched the replay, Hoffman was defending 1 in from Morris, Jennings nowhere to be seen, Hoffman basically had to cover both Cronk and Hodges, also Fifita initiated contact with Slater!"

The previous tackle Jennings had put a shot on Thaiday and was at marker.

Jennings made tackle previous to the try being scored. Hoffman didn't have to cover Cronk and Hodges... Cronk was Coverd, all Hoffman had to do was number up. instead he got sucked in leaving a gaping hole.

I've watched it as well and I don't know what your seeing. Fifita touches slater but Hoffman hits him with his shoulder first. when Fifita touches him his hands are in the air and his chest makes minimal contact.
