I felt gutted for him. Leclerc too, no reward for an epic climb through the field.

Me too, although he does kinda have himself to blame; he should've pitted when he had the chance, he probably would have lost P1 to Lewis but he would've still finished on the podium. Anyway, he'll learn.
The McLaren crew really botched things for their drivers, pathetic pit times for them both and they really should've pulled rank over Lando when he insisted on staying out as they would've seen from the radar that the weather was worsening.

Random question, nothing to do with the topic.

Wally Lewis won the Adelaide GP celebrity race twice and Gold Coast GP once (3/3). Did he do any other racing, state level or similar?

Huge win for loois.

Merc will just take a new engine for him for the remaining races. 5 place grid drop is nothing when you're 30km/h faster than everyone else.

Max still needs to win one of the remaining races to win the championship imo

That was a stunning drive. What a weekend - engine penalty, start from the back in the sprint, drive through the field to win. It is one thing to have a great car and a plan, another altoegther to execute this so well.

Great racing in supercars yesterday as well. Bring on the next races.

Championship locked up going into the last race.

Too bad for RB this track is dragster central, that merc engine is going to be too much for them to handle.

Congrats loois on 8 WDC and Merc for winning 8 WCC in a row.

Max reminds me of Schumacher. Maybe we'll see an Adelaide '94 move? That race this morning was nuts.

Max on pole of softs. Lewis P2 on mediums. Let's hope this lives up to the tension and expectations. After last week, expect anything.

Well this season was never gonna end in regular fashion now wasn’t it. Lewis/Merc have every right to feel aggrieved but Max was the better driver over the course of the season. If Hamilton got the penalty he deserved in Britain and Bottas didn’t take out Max mid year, the title would’ve been settled before Abu Dhabi. Besides, seen Lewis get the rub of the green with safety cars on numerous occasions as well so swings and roundabouts and all that. F1 was getting boring until this season so congrats to all concerned and congrats Max.

Red Bull pit strategy in this race was spot on, put Max into the position to capitalise. That and Perez masterful drive. So when the situation arose they were there. What a season.

Not sure how I feel about it really, was cheering for Max all season but to win it via Masi making up rules to get one more lap of racing just feels really hollow. Such a shame for both drivers to have great season end like that

Obvious they didn't want the race to end under SC so they bent the rules at the discretion of the race director to ensure a racing finish.

Max deserved to win this year, maybe not like that though. Hopefully he kills it next year and doesn't have to go through another season like this.

It was just such an odd way to end it, only the lapped cars between Hamilton and Verstappen allowed to unlap themselves, then allowing them to race when the rule clearly states the safety car comes in the lap after unlapped cars go past the leader, not really bending rules its just creating new ones on the fly.

In any case Max was the better driver for majority of the season, I'm glad he won, I'm sure he couldn't give a stuff how he won it haha.
