lol its way different!! People that sign up here to get a rise out of others, do it for a laugh ( well i hope that's all they do it for). I don't think there's anything wrong with anyone having Facebook, but for me i found that it led to a huge invasion of privacy, one that im not accustomed to. Oh and how could i forget, 8 hr days at work spent looking at photos would be another reason i got rid of it! :sarcasm:

That's why you keep it as private as possible... it's not too hard unless you've friends who love spam but they're replaceable. My bloody mate sent his wedding invitations via facebook last week, gotta keep in the loop somehow! So much easier than texting and ringing people all the time, but then I am a bloke.

lol WOW.. wedding invitations over facebook...how Tacky!!!

Facebook is fun, but it takes away the joys of things you can do in real life ( wedding invitations example) For Heaven's sake, you can even give flowers to someone online whereas i think its much nicer getting them in real life. I prefer Happy Birthday calls, not Happy Birthday messages over Facebook. It's little things like that, that got me to delete it in the end. It really does kill social skills as you become overly reliant on the web as a form of communication with others.

P.s Thanks Haynetrain, you aways have my back :)

Well in fairness it was just an invitation to confirm the date so everyone made sure to keep themselves free. Makes sense. Flowers online, screw that now that is silly. But as a guy it's easier keeping in touch with people online and when I feel like it. As a female (I assume) you'd probably feel the need to ring and text friends all the time, but it's not always easy to do that that so using facebook as a more advanced form of email is handy sometimes. Especially for friends that you cannot keep in contact with any other way.

haha you assumed right :p

Yeah it is easier to keep in touch, especially with a lot of my relatives living overseas, i could just pop in on their page every now and then to catch up!! Now i need to put in a bit more effort. But i dunno, i feel better without it. The only thing i miss a lot is the games ( lol) and now that i have an iphone, that problems solved hahha so really its useless to me now !!

The 30 odd years I've been alive I've lived in Sydney, Darwin and Adelaide (pretty much split equally 3 ways), so most of my good friends are scattered all over the country (and the world). Facebook is a good way to overcome the distance. Works for me (although while I was studying it was a bit of a time-waster, ha ha).

I also recently opened a Twitter account to follow a few NRL players and use it like a bit of an RSS feed for ABC news, etc.

It's all about how you use this stuff. I was never really into forums, but I'd be pretty much disconnected from anything league in Adelaide if I didn't have LU :)
