I think this is Latu's problem. He is always freaken injured. It's hard to get continuity to develop your game if you aren't on the park.
It's the problem with kids playing against men, I guess. It happens a lot, happened to Benji in his early days.

Sure but it's not always like this. Galvin has been fine.
He's not a half and a waste of money in that position. Compare him to the premier past and present halves or ⅝'s.... he's miles behind them in several departments and he shouldn't be on his current salary atm, fact!
If he excelled at won the dogs a premiumship then I'd eat my words, but no.
Players like him need to develop their craft but hungry managers, even his parents, and the dogs filled his head full of crap which he can't live up to.
Thurston imo was average at the dogs but grew another leg in Townsville because he had learnt his trade.

I wonder how Galvin will go. I honestly think he was pretty good in that game on the weekend but he was feeding Preston who is playing like the best backrower in the comp.

I reckon Galvin was terrible with us. I'm not sure he is a half but maybe he can be a running 6. I also think the money we offered and what Canterbury are paying him is ridiculous.

I agree Galvin is miles behind other halves and on a value for money deal he isn't worth it. I assume the Dogs are paying him on potential. The issue for them is will he realize his potential. I also assume they are paying Burton on potential as well.

I do rate Galvin as a potential, and I say again potential, great ⅝. He's not a half because he doesn't straighten the line up or take the defence on.
If he is to stay in that position withBurton outside him then he needs to watch Cooper Cronk videos and practice it till its coming out of his ears.
I still reckon Benji could have developed him as a ⅝ especially with sidestepping and change-ups. He is tall enough to use his fend to get on the outside of the D too.

I just know that you have to have all the attributes to be successful, Galvin has a couple.
Lockyer was one of my fav players, he mastered ⅝ and fullback but if he had to he could play anywhere in the backs.

I thought Galvin was alright last year, but second year syndrome, then ego got to him.
I still think he will become a premium 5/8.

In years gone by he would have played 2 to 3 years in junior reps and then in reserve grade learning his craft and learning from his mistakes. During that time his body would have filled out as well.

Unfortunately those days are gone as if we don't blood our juniors quickly some other team will. On top of that, the players don;t have the patience for this approach any more and want to be in 1st grade yesterday. This is often to their detriment, as Galvin discovered this year.

I don't pretend to be any great judge of talent, but I think we might have side stepped a land mine here. I think he's got a greater chance of being the second coming of Brooks, than of Johns or Fittler.

Agree. It does come down to team first, like all sport should be.
