far out , talk about kick a man when he,s down but welly has stuck it into harbour in a huge way this week..

first they lose saint ron for 6 weeks then the windy people appeal the nzrfu sentence on the HONEST mistake that harbour made by allowing harbour half back alcock to play,,, then the nzrfu (who have totally lost the plot imho) reverse the $7500 fine and replace it with the loss of 4 comp points !!

how unsporting on wellingtons part.

why did the nzrfu allow the appeal after the original sentence was done and the coin changed hands?

all we need now is for pope troy the most pious to be banned for life.........

gunna be a beaut game when they next meet ;-)

Wellington were just after the points themselves, which thankfully they didnt get. That would be setting a dangerous precedent IMO.
At first I thought Harbour should have lost the points when the NZRFU first decided to fine them, but now I'm not so sure. It was an admin error, so should the players be penalised? Alcock did all he was supposed to do, the blame lies with the Harbour union, so maybe a fine was the right way to go, i.e penalising the union instead of the team.

I wonder how many things are put down to "ADMIN ERRORS" when in fact they are a little more intentional and sly than what they would have you believe. I think it's the right decision as it means you have to get it right the first time. Classic example is the hosting rights for the world cup alot of the mistakes where put down to ADMIN ERRORS when in fact we did not have the people up for the job.

Alcock, Is he the south african player?

Yes, he is a good little player, I am not sure why SA let him slip through their fingers. He has definitly sparked the North Harbour team since his arrival. He would make a good hooker in league, makes great darting runs down the middle of the park and has a good pass on him.

Fair point, I just think the players & the harbour fans(if there are any left) are the ones being penalised by admin incompetence or dishonesty.
I agree however, taking away points is the right precedent to set. A fine, though directed at the people who screwed up, opens up too many loopholes. Heads rolling would probably be the best scenario of all.

We better get Graham Lowe to go and take a look at him then ;-)
