Ha! Good luck!!

Early days they had an element of punk with their funk, then they became almost jazz.

Honestly, I don't know what to label them - but amazing band. One of the all time greats.

There are very few vocalists that can match Mike Patton.

lol fair enough, how good was Demartini though?

As for Patton? what a gun of a singer, ashes to ashes is still one of my favourite CD's and thats a compliment as it has heavy compeition in the car CD player with Whitesnake 87, Van Halen 1, Gunners Use your Illusion 1 and Ratts invasion & out of the scellar:)

Eclectic rock. That is, they meshed a bunch of different styles (metal, rock, hard rock, rap, funk) and put them in a blender.

They were kinda the pioneers of Nu-Metal.
They had a kinda Rap-Rock feel to them at times too.

But if I had to classify them - id slot them in with Tool and Muse, so I guess its just "Alternative Hard Rock"

It'd be idiotic to classify them into a genre/style because it would not do them justice to what they were; a f*cking awesome band! I've heard crap like Funk Metal but that is bullsh*t; you cannot classify them, they are just great!

Red Hot Chili Peppers + Linkin Park + Actual musical talent = FNM.

I used to be into them big time a few years back - still have a listen to their CD's every now and then. My personal fave is "King For A Day..." very diverse.

The thing I noticed is that the Mike Patton on "The Real Thing" is different to the one on "Angel Dust" and the two albums afterwards. It's almost as if Patton's voice broke. But having read his profile on Wikipedia, he had a wide range of vocals, from falsetto (The Real Thing) to crooning (later on in their existence).

You're pretty much spot on, to hard to classify. Just an awesome f**king band.

Faith no more were Faith no more. nothing more, nothing less. One of the most unique bands of all time imo, you couldnt classify them at all. They did everything from The Gentle Art of Making Enemies to Evidence, one of the smoothest songs of all time. They really are unclassifyable. I wonder what Mike Patton is doin now though ... i bet its unique :)

He's doing about 50 things at the same time, like he is always doing.

His latest project involves him fronting an orchestra and he sings classic Italian pop tunes (it's called Mondo Cane, google it if you want to see footage).

Tomahawk have just released their third album too and it's very good.

Edit: oh and he is currently in Australia touring with Peeping Tom.

You know something ? Thats all pretty "un-weird" for Mike ... good to see he aint changed though :) The last time i saw him, he was complaining about Wolfmother ... he whinged "hasnt this all been done before ?" But thats Mike ... he's always at the forefront of some new sh*t :) You gotta love him.
