Even Brett Kenny and Ray Price were there most of the day in the legends bar. They were more than happy to to have photos taken, sign autographs and have a chat!

I didn't attend but from what I have heard 4 of our players (no prizes for guessing who) left after they had ther team photo taken, and before they had to mingle with fans. They were missing for the massive team shot.

It would be refreshing if these players had to face consequences for this, but the club won't do anything.

If all the other teams and players from the other clubs can hang around and fulfil the day's duties, then I believe there is no excuse for our players to piss off just because they don't want to deal with the kids.

Poor form.

I'm a terrible guesser, couldnt think who they would be, any hints?

Did you inform Pricey that he might have to end up forking out for half the cost of his own statue?

no but the idea of showing him a photo on the camera I had that piggy borrowed to take pics of when he put the pricey sign up on the stadium, did cross my mind

Obviously I thought better of it

Yesterday was the most emabarrasing day in the history of the Parramatta Eels club. From whoa to go we looked like f**kin ametuers! Firstly, before the gates even opened at least half the clubs had merchandise vans set up outside the stadium selling off team merchandise... We didnt. Then inside, each club had a tent set up. The Tigers had 3 tents. One for Balmain, one for the Magpies and one for the West Tigers. I will go on record now as saying this club will steal alot of our fans over the next few years if we dont smarten the hell up. Each of he Tigers tents were giving out free showbags with the Magpies one including a free Premiers '05 t-shirt. So, lets skip over to the Parra tent shall we... Pamphelts on how to become a memeber (ok, good recruitment driving there) but not real other incentives. A 2007 poster and if you were lucky, 1 tattoo. The only other tent that looked barer than our was Newtown, but at least they had a merchandise stall set up outside the gates. I even saw a kid walk up to the girls in the tent to ask for something and he was told to come back later as they didnt have it. YOU DONT GET SUCCESSFUL BY TURNING PPL AWAY!

As for the players who chose not to attend the major team photo I hope they are reprimanded. Not only have they cheated the fans by not having a full squad in such a memorbale photo, but they have also cheated themselves and their families in a place in history. I am ashamed at all 4 of them. And not to attend sheduled events is just plain rude. The kids that were waiting up in the arts and crafts area at the end of the day, only to be told that Parra, the last team to attend, were unable to to show up, were absolutely shattered. If an adult misses out on such things I say (to a certain degree) that we will get over it. To let kids down is just not on!

Anyways, I better shush now or I will be on a rant for the rest of the afternoon. But everyone from the club who was involved in yesterdays activities should hang their head in shame!

The poor treatment of fans continues, and I'd suggest MITS, that this should be included in your report.
Why can't we name the 4 players?

Oh I didnt realise they werent already named. I have no dramas in naming them. It'll be no secret coz they wont be in the photo

Eric Grothe Jnr (suprise, suprise). Everyone knows on a personal level I have alot of time for Eric, but for one day he just had to show some loyalty to this club and he chose not to. That saddens me.
Tim Smith. Dunno his reasonings so i wont comment there
Luke Burt and Ben Smith - Again, major dissapointments for me there. I thought they had more respect for the club and its fans. But again, maybe the above 3 had legitimate reasons for leaving so I will hold back til I find out otherwise.

They do a great thing for the fans in ParraTV, and charge a small fee.
They have a day where they can showcase themsleves in front of all Rugby League fans, not just parra fans, and they only do a half assed effort.
If players didn't show for the photo or leaft early that is a disgrace.

I'm so impressed with ParraTV that it is hard to beleive that they stuffed up the fan day.

When i walked in at 3pm parra tv were filming the few players stationed at the parra stand at the time for signings

Josh Cordoba seemed to be doing an interview/report

It will be interesting to see what they put on there

We already do, I mean i have something like 7 jerseys, 3 polo's , 2 training shirts, 2 pairs of shorts, 3 caps, Mobile phone cover, sunglasses, hammer and tape, dart cabinet and dart board and darts, framed pictures the list goes on. They you pay for pay tv or game tickets and memberships. All this goes towards paying their high salaries.
The very least they can do is meet the fans and sign their name a few times a year.
There are a lot more fans that buy a lot more supporter gear and go to more games than i do.

It was my understanding that players needed to write a letter to the NRL with a pretty darn good reason to get permission to not attend the day

The players were given permission to leave for whatever reason.

Which from the powers that be should never have happened! A once in a hundred year day all players should have been involved.

With regards to Nikki's original rant (which I agree she is fully entitled to) it's not so much the players leaving early, but the poor representation by the club on a huge day ie. stalls, merchandise etc...... that hit home to me more.
This is just another in a long list of grievances that prove the poor attitude of the club towards its fans.
