Based on your assumptions ...for me personally I hope it works out to be ......

SF1 @ Brisbane - England V Samoa (would prefer PNG but things don't work out that way)

SF2 @ Auckland - NZ V Australia

The first mentioned being winners !

An England v PNG QF is highly likely.
An England v PNG SF is possible if England finish 3rd in Pool A then win their QF.

Well if nothing else it would make for a good story if England came from third in their pool ( which would mean an upset win to France or Lebanon) to World Cup winners !

I don't think NZ are locks for 1st in group B. They are odds on favorites but Samoa and Scotland have both troubled them in recent years.

I like the draw. Australia is a big country and the competition is run in 2 countries , so it's expected that there will be some decent travel involved.

When I went to the FIFA World cup in Brazil it was tough and expensive to get between host cities . And when I mean tough , multi connecting flights or 24 hour bus rides.

If you want a fan friendly world cup you would have all games in Melbourne , Sydney and Brisbane and then we would complain that organisers were insular and not expansive enough .

This is by far the best spread of games you could hope for in a RLWC. Shows the game is casting of its myopic approach. The last cup was great in Europe as it also spread games around the countries hosting and this one is even braver. I reckon the png hosted games are going to rate massively on tv!

I'm not complaining about the choice of venues more the timing of matches being played in the same country with little or no chance for supporters to attend both matches when a slight rejig would allow that to happen.

Can't wait , the Fijian, Tongan and Samoa teams are going to be stacked with talent.

The test matches on the 06 may should be a good indication of how much the 2nd tier teams have improved .

Just seen the Samoa and Tonga squads. I'm going to the WC game at Hamilton. I'm sure it will be a bruising encounter with nothing left in the dressing sheds.
