FARAH AT HALF-BACK FOR THE SHORT TERM
By Wayne Cousins
Robbie Farah will remain at half-back for the Wests Tigers for the short term as the team looks to return to the winners circle.
Coach Tim Sheens has selected Farah at half-back for Sundays big clash against South Sydney at ANZ Stadium after playing as a makeshift half in the loss to the Melbourne Storm on Monday night.
Utility John Morris has been named at hooker with hooker Stuart Flanagan coming off the interchange bench.
Sheens said Farah was the teams best nine and best seven option.
At the moment, we need that direction from the seven, Sheens said.
John Morris and young Stuart Flanagan will be better for it in terms of interchanging the hooker, which we dont normally do.
Robbie has been burnt that much because we dont have our best forward pack out there. He has been burnt so much at nine that there is no kick left in him as the game goes on.
At the moment, we will continue with it. It is not a long term thing from the point of next season but it is in the short term,
We have got to play our best players and get them out on the park in the positions where we think they can do something.
Robbie has got a half-backs brain and he will be better for it.
Captain Brett Hodgson said the side was confident of building on the platform laid against the Storm.
For 60 minutes (against the Storm), it was a real top quality effort but unfortunately just at the end, we were not strong enough, Hodgson said.
We are not in the eight at the moment but we are close enough if good enough. It is another big month of footy going forward now.
Weve got a big game against the Rabbitohs and they are playing well.
Sheens said a win over South Sydney would lift the spirits of the players.
Souths have won five in a row and they are a better side than the one we beat in round six, Sheens said.
We have put together patches but we have not put together a real good game.
Our confidence is down a little too from it, so we need a win desperately to raise that confidence.
