At the other end of the scale, one of the worst cover songs I remember is ZZ Top's version of Elvis Presley's "Viva Las Vegas".

Elvis' original would rate in my top 100 songs of all time and by far the best song of his.

Cashs version of Personal Jesus is pretty good too.

Love his version of Soundgarden's Rusty Cage too. Plus he also did a cover of Bob Marley's Redemption Song with Joe Strummer from The Clash just before Joe died (and himself not long after). The Man in Black gave damn good cover and originals.
