Yeah theres no doubting that. Hardcore is defintly the most underrated form of music ever. Look at how many bands from different music genres were inspired by hardcore eg coal chamber, foo fighters, nirvana, beastie boys, Moby etc.

IMO the most important bands were:

Frenzal rhomb. The only band to diss russle crowe and get away with it. "Popstars, australian idol f#$@ off, get the f@#$ out" absolute legends and newtown boys too

Nofx the punkest band in the world
Rancid, have that old school, clash sound
Raised fist are also good
