Newer venues I also rate: Oxford Art Factory - very intimate.

I went to a movie preview there for some arty flick, they had longnecks behind the bar, complete with the paper bag and all. Pure class that is!

In sydney has to be the annandale. tiny stage(saw guitarist from Irrelevant actually fall off mid foot stomp ha ha) tiny room and so freaking brilliant when completely sold out. Metro is good is a totaly different way to the annandale, seems alot more professional.

Gaelic used to be good, seeing people launching from the balcony when Good Riddance toured was crazy. Big ass pillons make it sh*t at times.

In terms of just local bands then the harp hotels music room is a sweet little set up.

Yeah, worst venues in Brisbane would easily be The Arena, Convention Centre (South Bank) and Entertainment Centre (Boondall).

The Arena is just the pits. 60 degrees regardless of the time of year, everything's that f**king loud you can't distinguish one instrument from another, and it's just a sh*te experience.

The other two - vast concrete jungles with zilch atmosphere and sound quality. Only been to the Entertainment Centre twice - and wouldn't have gone back for the second if it was anyone other than Bob Dylan.
