Feleti should have started/what a ride

I know I'm a couple of days late, but just pulled myself out of bed after a 4 day cry/bender.

I'm not gonna whinge because as far as I'm concerned I'm so proud of what the boys achieved this season and am very thankful for the turn around in attitude, form and heart shown by the team, something that has lacked for quite some time. If someone would have said to me mid season you'll make the grand final - and best of all you'll put the Bulldogs and Manly out ot the Finals along the way I would have taken that... Especially putting out Manly and the Bulldogs lol

What a ride though, I must say from a personal point that the feeling the boys gave me over the last 11 weeks has been unforgettable, especially the last month. I've had a tingle in my body that made me prouds to be an Eels supporter again - so on that it's a big THANKS to Daniel and the Team.

I would just like to add that I thought Feleti should have started the game. He is a special player who can create a lot in attack (as he showed early in the second half after not being on all that long before hand) and he certainly would have helped Jarrod because I think that we got showed up by not having a Halfback out there. I know Robbo has done a great job for us the last 2 months but its been Jarrod who's been the go to man in attack and after Melbourne were all over him like a rash we needed someone to step up and take pressure off him, but it seemed to me that because Jarrod was kept quiet we had nothing in attack....Feleti would have been the perfect foil because he is just that good and I don't consider him a bench forward because he can give you a miracle at any stage in 80 mins. I do blame Daniel Anderson for poor judgment there, but after what he's done with the boys to get them there I'll forgive him for what I consider a bad move (just my opinion). I do also blame Robbo for that as well for not stepping up knowing that Jarrod was being given no room and no help, you only have to look at the try Cooper Cronk set up by using Slater as a decoy because he knew that all eyes would be on Salter. Morts being so young and in experienced I don't think it falls on his shoulders, but this is just my opinion.

Anyhow what a great RIDE!!

I beg to differ in that Lowrie's form warranted him to start.

But the first 20, he was a passenger and DA should've hooked him and put Mateo on after the 2nd try.

A number of the boys had stage fright: Benny, Lowrie, Robbo.

there was not a lot of room for anyone out there, the Storm were consistently offside and the attacking plays we looked dangerous on were the alternative plays where we used the second option behind the decoys.

Although I'm sure he will regain his starting spot in 2010, Feleti has really been a super-sub since his return, and I can see why DA wouldn't want to change a winning formula. He definitely should have come on earlier though.

I just think that we all knew that Jarrod was going to be shut down enemy number one for Melbourne, Feleti would have taken allot of pressure off Jarrod and he's just so damn good!. Robbo never really started anything attacking wise over the 2 1/2 months he was there that I can think of, he did a good job for us more so defensively than attacking. Anyhow I think Morts should be our number 7 next year and maybe Keating at 6. I think next year you'll see a much more better Feleti and don't forget that until 2 1/2 months ago he was our main man when Jarrod was just coasting so with Feleti not being as relied upon I see our team going the next step next year, I'm expecting a big few years for us.

GO YOU MIGHTY EELS!

i also believe with morts in the 7 and kk in the 6 we will have an organiser and an explosive runner together with the fact they will both back up all game.

Feleti will start next year and ease a lot of pressure from Hayne's shoulders. Can't make up my mind between Robson and KK. Robson for mine as I think KK is liability in defense. With Hayne, Mortimer and Feleti in the run on side there is more then enough creativity out there.

Feliti should have come on after at least 20 mins, one of Ando's few blues all year, watching the game again today showed me just how good he is. He is a must re-signing.

You rather a defensive half then a attacking one? Hayne has to stop being seen as the go to man or one of our creative players. Over the past few months everything hayne has done he just pulls it out of his ass he doesn't plan his play one or two sets ahead he sees an oppertunity and grabs it and pulls off some amazing try/try assist. You need a player that brings structure great passing and kicking game, robson can't do it This is the one area we got found out on in the GF I'm not bagging him out he has done well but KK is a must next year.

That's my issue to as Hayne is a devastating runner too.

I am most concerned about Robson's kicking too - long and short.

It's comparable to Finch.

noticed in the GF, Finch never kicked.

Well my other hate is Robbo's kicking game... put simply - it's sh@thouse!! I noticed it when I went out to Penrith game Morts was finding the grass, turning around Zammit or was getting repeat sets, I thought from that day on that Morts should have been doing 80% of the kicking.

I watched KK closely when he came into first grade and want to know exactly was it is about his kicking that makes people think he has a terrific long kicking game or great organisational skills. Most of the time I saw him catch the ball duck, weave and step and then attempt a most unorganised offload. A the end of the game we had usually lost as well (however KK is not entirely to plan for this the whole team was busted).

You're having us on aren't you? The team was garbage! KK is not entirely to blame you say????? I think he had 3 games at starting half!!!!!!! FMD!

You probably thought Finch was a good player though

I think you need to re read the post before going off the deep end. I said KK was NOT entirely to blame, however as the starting half back I'm sure he shoulders some of the blame for the games he did play. The point of my post was that I am not sure KK possesses the skills that some people seem to think he does after just three first grade games. I may yet be proven wrong and hope I am.

As for Finch I'm not even going to get into an argument over him. Best decision ever made for our club.

don't forget that KK is still only a rookie as well, he hasn't had that many 1st grade appearances but jury is still out on him i'm thinking. I remember he was having a fairly good game against the Bulldogs before he broke his jaw, i remember he was making quite a few breaks. In all honesty I loved him coming off the bench! I thought he had some real impact off the bench replacing his brother buts thats my opinion on him. I think when he did play his best games last year it was coming off the bench and playing at hooker. I think Morts is our halfback of the future. He had a great season this year and I believe that Ando was grooming him for number 7.

OUt of KK and Mortz, I would also say that Mortz seem more a 7 than KK.

Although neither are that good at the 7 yet and 6 suits both of them.

I still think DA will go:

6. Mortz
7. Robson

14. KK
