OUt of KK and Mortz, I would also say that Mortz seem more a 7 than KK.

Although neither are that good at the 7 yet and 6 suits both of them.

I still think DA will go:

6. Mortz
7. Robson

14. KK

Well my other hate is Robbo's kicking game... put simply - it's sh@thouse!! I noticed it when I went out to Penrith game Morts was finding the grass, turning around Zammit or was getting repeat sets, I thought from that day on that Morts should have been doing 80% of the kicking.

Until he got a bung hip which they probably wanted to protect him in case he got hit again

Yeah. That sorta screwed everything up. He'll be our main kicker next year I reckon.

And that's how I would shut down Hayne.

If I was an opposition coach. I would bomb and bomb and bomb Hayne. Even midfield bombs and makes sure that there a 2-3 hard secondrowers waiting to smash him.

Bombs like Inglish bombs which have hang time and forces Hayne (or Slater too) to wait for it to come down and then smash and smash and smash him and hopefully force a niggling injury.

Since the injury to Mortz, he could not play naturally. He did put his body on the line especially against the dogs but it wasn't the Mortz of pre-Dogs game.

I did watch it live but was probably shocked with our performance and sort of didn't pay attention.

But really didn't notice him to be honest.

Hayne, Grothe, Hindy, Fui I noticed.
Benny, Lowrie went awol
Robson had some bad kicks.

But that was all I really remembered.

Haven't watched the replay like I have never watched the 2001 replay. I might but also may not.

I know I'm a couple of days late, but just pulled myself out of bed after a 4 day cry/bender.

I'm not gonna whinge because as far as I'm concerned I'm so proud of what the boys achieved this season and am very thankful for the turn around in attitude, form and heart shown by the team, something that has lacked for quite some time. If someone would have said to me mid season you'll make the grand final - and best of all you'll put the Bulldogs and Manly out ot the Finals along the way I would have taken that... Especially putting out Manly and the Bulldogs lol

What a ride though, I must say from a personal point that the feeling the boys gave me over the last 11 weeks has been unforgettable, especially the last month. I've had a tingle in my body that made me prouds to be an Eels supporter again - so on that it's a big THANKS to Daniel and the Team.

I would just like to add that I thought Feleti should have started the game. He is a special player who can create a lot in attack (as he showed early in the second half after not being on all that long before hand) and he certainly would have helped Jarrod because I think that we got showed up by not having a Halfback out there. I know Robbo has done a great job for us the last 2 months but its been Jarrod who's been the go to man in attack and after Melbourne were all over him like a rash we needed someone to step up and take pressure off him, but it seemed to me that because Jarrod was kept quiet we had nothing in attack....Feleti would have been the perfect foil because he is just that good and I don't consider him a bench forward because he can give you a miracle at any stage in 80 mins. I do blame Daniel Anderson for poor judgment there, but after what he's done with the boys to get them there I'll forgive him for what I consider a bad move (just my opinion). I do also blame Robbo for that as well for not stepping up knowing that Jarrod was being given no room and no help, you only have to look at the try Cooper Cronk set up by using Slater as a decoy because he knew that all eyes would be on Salter. Morts being so young and in experienced I don't think it falls on his shoulders, but this is just my opinion.

Anyhow what a great RIDE!!

I agree with yy here. Lowrie deserved to be in th starting line-up, he was pretty good leading up to the GF. However, in saying that, i believe mateo should have been rushed in earlier, like 25min mark max. Its funny, how lots of people forgot how good mateo really is.

You rather a defensive half then a attacking one? Hayne has to stop being seen as the go to man or one of our creative players. Over the past few months everything hayne has done he just pulls it out of his ass he doesn't plan his play one or two sets ahead he sees an oppertunity and grabs it and pulls off some amazing try/try assist. You need a player that brings structure great passing and kicking game, robson can't do it This is the one area we got found out on in the GF I'm not bagging him out he has done well but KK is a must next year.

100% spot on mate. Couldn't say it any better than that.

I said the exact same thing a few weeks ago, if you want to shut down any fullback who has strength and speed plus the evasivness of Hayne, you put a high kick up and make sure your defence meets him not long after he catchs the ball.

If you kick behind him its not as effective because off the mark he can still beat you, you have to take that out of his game. For someone like slater who is quick but mot particulary stong you can do that because if you present a line he wont be able to smash through it like Hayne.

IMO melbourne shut Hayne down well, while he still ran the ball back hard and did everything a fullback should do they shut down his creativness and because we dont have a natural halfback our options were limited.

IMO Mateo kept us in the match, he broke the melbourne line with most runs and showed us what he could do. Next year we need KK in the halves and Mateo in the 13 to give our side more options in attack, Hayne will be more effective this way IMO.

hahaha Caylo, I thought of this long ago but didn;t want to post it.

I thought Hayne wasn't stopped by Melbourne exactly, I think Melbourne stopped our forwards and then, Hayne had no room to move. Like the thrashing the drags gave us.

The other thing was that Hayne tried too hard. He said it himself. He tried to get the ball in his hands way too much instead of picking the right time.

Lastly, some of his teammates got stage fright and it did not help.
