had a feeling the raiders were going to be upset by the cowboys though. Lets face it, it was pretty unfair to expect the raiders to smash the cowboys with the likes of schif, drewy, woolford, martin, smith out, and losing hodgson early didnt help either (hope he is ok). You just cant replace that sorta experience. Most disappointing factor about tonights performance was the raiders defence. I mean letting in 34 points for a top8 team is a pretty pathetic effort at this stage of the season, even though the cowboys are a good attacking team. Only the likes of Mclinden, wiki and joel monaghan can hold their heads high 2nite, they received little support from their teammates. Phil Graham was pretty piss poor tonight and so was bulgarelli. Just wondering why Ben Cross wasnt included in the side, thought the raiders missed his impact in defence tonight. Pretty disappointing but its tough to be at your best everyweek in this competition. I am confident though that the team can bounce back against the knights next week with hopefully schif, drewy and tez martin returning to the side. BTW how did the reggies go tonight? and how did mick weyman and tezza campese go after returning from long injury lay-offs?

I agree Brenno on the injuries... and the bench was short too... just would have been better if we got out of it at the end with the 2 points ...

Premier League won 62-4 (I think). Massive games from Gaffa, Weyman, Cross, in fact all the forwards.... Everyone played well, and it seems Jensen has broken some sort of try scoring record for the grade....

I agree that it wasn't totally unexpected - I tipped the Cowboys!

But of course I am disappointed. I think we should really throw this game away from the memory banks - the team we had out there today was only bore a slight resemblance to the team which has done so well this year.

I would almost dread playing a home final the way we have been playing in Canberra this year! I do agree with greeneyed to the extent that I think we will really lift for our final three games of the season. Is there anything more that needs to be done for us to get a capacity crowd to the last game of the season?

Some of my thoughts coming out of the match are that we need Clinton organising our defence. In the 3rd quarter of the match, our defence was shocking.

Graham could also have tried to catch the ball at the end of the game but we should never have been in a position where we were playing catch-up.

Our no-frills back rowers who have done a magnificent job this season where missing for just about the whole match. If we didn't have Davico, O'Hara and Wiki, we would have been flogged. I'm assuming Hodgson won't be playing next week so i'd bring back Weyman and Cross to fire up the forwards.

damn i pissed off :x

hello fellow raiders, i'm from wollongong and have been a raider for 15 years i just discovered this raider forum, outstanding.
I can't believe matty disrupted the backlines defensive continuity by taking mogg out. phil is poor and won't get involved enough in attack and when he does he has brain explosions. his speed would have been better used at fullback to cover for mogg's inexperience in positional play. mogg tried his best but showed what an exceptional fullback clinton is. shane hayne is f**ked. we are a highly disiplined unit and when hayne instructed and penalised in the first half for the ruck area, we fixed it up and allowed them to get quick play the balls and so they got the roll on. but when we were attacking they kept it up and got away with it. 10 ruck infringements and no cowboy sin-binning. I can't BELIEVE eddie ward gave us our final try. It was 100% a fair try and he just f**ked it up. well done to the cowboys forwards for going toe to toe with us. why did matty have jimmy evans on the bench with marty against their pack of ten. Gee our attack suffers without a hooker. I thought michael monas was going to play hooker (which got us back in it for the 20mins he was) marty and toots in the halves. but macca was a complete passenger with that hand, he let 2 tries in gave away penalties because he couldn't use his hand to get off the players and even had to re-feed scrums because they were sloppy. if we needed a half to play then drew has been playing on that bunged hamstring for a while now.(so go easy on drew and consider the injury and why he can't train as hard and be as fit for games, hence fatique leading to defensive lapses) that's the first shocker i've seen from michael monas in the top grade, he felt pressured coming into a successful team and taking control throwing balls to hard, poor mental kicking game and sorry but just all the other areas. phil has shown tremendous potential but people don't remember his only a sophmore who hasn't been exposed to the dark learning periods in first grade he has be carried along by a great team this season. look at lolesi, he went through bad experiences in first grade for 3-4 years and has finally blossomed and matured and now the bulldogs benefit from that ie: finch, payten, vainikolo. We are now conditioned to play away in warmer high pressured enviroments and probably dislike our empty frost bitten kingdom just as much as the opposition. but it will be decided in sydney.
stay green!

I agree our home record is a real worry this season. One possible reason is the really poor turnouts by the Canberra public even though we are travelling really well.

A few problems... the crowd was probably as complacent as the team... Cowboys have NEVER drawn strong crowds in Canberra.

But, in addition, the 5.30pm slot is bad for Canberra... it is dark and cold at night in winter.... Sunday afternoon games are preferred.... PLUS it was in opposition to the rugby union test on TV.... Like it or not, rugby union is strong in Canberra at the moment and a lot of people would have stayed home in warmth in front of the TV, rather than see the expected walkover.... (which VERY unfortunately DIDN'T HAPPEN).....

Plus I should add I disagree with Ultima... when the team gave the crowd a vague sense of hope (ie they looked like they were trying), they were very noisy and right behind the team. I don't think people not at the game can really judge how noisy or otherwise the crowd was.

The pain of the loss is somewhat alleviated by the fact that the Broncos were also the victims of a boilover against the Tigers today. This keeps th race for a top 4 spot very much alive, however, I think 3 of the teams, the Roosters, Panthers, and Dogs, are already there. We will probably be playing brisbane either at Bruce on a Friday or at Suncorp on a Friday for the first final. Our home record aint great but the Broncos are tough anywhere I guess.

What was the official attendance?

I don't see why everyone is now saying we will finish 4th or 5th.... 3 wins and we finish higher don't we?

The crowd was about 8 and a half thousand.... HEAPS of season ticketholders didn't turn up around me in the Meninga Stand.

Thats a shame then.

I think the reason people are saying that Canberra will finish 4th or 5th now is because there are only three games left, and in those 3 games you come up against both Easts & Canterbury.

That'd be why. never the less goodluck for the rest of the season.

Here are a few of my thoughts on the game.

- We played shit, especially down the right hand side in defence. Our forwards weren't too bad overall, but there intensity was almost non existent.

- The crowd was terrible. About 8 and a half, and the only racket they made was in the last quarter of the game when we tried coming back. Also booing the shit out of Shayne Hayne when he came off.

- Shayne Hayne is a joke. He really hates us.

- We were however missing about 6 1st graders, and Hodgson came off very early.

- The only positive thing of the day was the premier league side. All the boys played well, including Cross and Weyman who need to be in first grade next game against the knights.

Anythings possible i suppose. I still stand by if you win one of the games against canterbury/easts you blokes are really fortunate.

While we played SHIT today (yesterday) I still think we can win all our remaining games... With a lot of people back next week and the fact that they were terrible this week drilled into them constantly we should see a marked improvement which will be enough to push over a Johnsless Knights.... Bar injuries or a performance like today's I think we can beat the Bulldogs too (as it's away from home and therefore will get a better crowd of green). I think we need as many Sydney fans to go down for the game against the Roosters as possible... If they keep on track and win all their remaining games then we need to beat them by a lot to get the minor.... Or beat the Bulldogs or Knights by a lot THEN beat the Roosters...

However as it's been a week of all upsets... GO THE RABBITS!!!!
