If the shoe was on the other foot and the swans were targetting casual fans (what the f**k is a casual fan ?) of your club would you be tempted ? I mean collingwood fans are a breed apart. They are staunch pies fans and league doesn't rate with them. Think Manly fans in the 80's, everybody hates their club and they in turn hate everybody back.

The AFL fans in Victoria righty or wrongly are rabid about their team and AFL in general. In my experience the female fans are even more full on than the blokes. The only way we will have any impact is to show the game on free to air at a resonable time.

Instead of trying to convert fans we should be trying to get them to have an interst in the storm and NRL in general. I can see people being AFL and NRL fans not either or as some of the posters here are suggesting. If you look at the lions there are plenty of supporters who are bronco/titan/cowboys fans as well as being lions fans.

Top post.

Does anyone really think a fan will drop their team for another sport because they are having a poor season? Would you do it??

NRL in Melbourne and AFL in NSW/Qld are IMO better off targeting current fans of other codes to follow another sport, even part time, as well as their current team.

I think it is much easier to convince someone who attends live sport each week to attend more, than it is to convince someone who doesn't go to any at all to suddenly start.

As both leagues become more national there are an increasing number of weeks where your team plays interstate. Encouraging supporters of these teams to watch the "local" team in another sport on those weeks is the market that i think is possible.

There is more chance of people being interested in going to a game after they have watched a game on television.

If the NRL doesn't have the smarts or the balls to have games (any games) shown at a decent time, the first introduction to the game for Non-NRL fans will not be made.

Guaranteeing television coverage should be a given.

is the nrl and tv people that stupid as to think people with no interest in league are going to look up in their tv guides to see when a league game is on, on free to air, you've got to be joking

the only way league is going to get popular with the naive crowd is playing league games at a reasonable time, during prime time people will watch anything, even jasmine's getting married, If its as bad as that (which i highly doubt) then if it got canned i wouldn't mind, but i could be 99% sure that if they showed a game at a reasonable time, people would watch and be interested.... (if not then there f******),

Once this has been established and theres even more interest i think the game will pick up in victoria, and they wouldn't need to target melbourne demons fans and corperate sponsors, cause they will already have some,

Grow some brains NRL and channel 9, NO1 likes bold and the beautiful, the only person watching that is elton John FFS, put on some league instead of it.

City of Melbourne = AFL drones who would do anything to protect their game.
AFL drones who would do anything to protect their game = Fuggtard

Real helpful. Couldn't the AFL guys then just reverse it back eg Sydney = NRL drones who would do anything to protect their game etc etc

How is insulting people going to get them to follow our game ?
