We're a rich club cheffy, haven't you heard?

While tripping over your tongue, you may have missed the chatter about this being a 2012 signing. A lot of players will be moving on at the end of next year, Cooper included.

Also, we don't need Sports unConfidential to tell us this. The chase for J Morris has been a point of discussion ever since he went over the fence.

I know you're a rich club. But in 2011 you have Boyd and Nightingale off contract. In 2012 you have Fien, Merrin, Hunt, Young, Morris and Scott. The year after that it's Creagh, Weyman, Soward and Prior. Most of them are going to be after some pretty significant upgrades. Young, Morris and Scott are new rep players. Creagh and Weyman I'm pretty sure are the same. Soward, Hunt and Prior I think will make some rep teams over the next year or two also. They are some pretty serious players after some pretty serious coin. Add to that a grand final winning side and you have some big decisions to make. It may end up being like Melbourne, in that your success and keeping a squad together over a number of years either results in you losing a big number of them or you find that creative accountant.

furthermore, we've been told for 2 seasons how crap our bunch of chokers were.

any players who repped didn't deserve it & it was all creeping's doing.

why the sudden change of tune?

we've gone from crap to rorters.

a most perplexing development.

See into the future? No. But do you see any other premiership winning squads keeping their entire team together over the past 10 years?

You are a clueless idiot. The fact is once you make rep sides and win grand finals you can ask for more money. I never said you were rorters. But if you think you can keep all your players together and sign big name players then you are looking increasingly like Melbourne.

That's one player. You think management is going to let all your team go? You think Bennett is going to let it happen? How about the fans? Happy to let Nightingale, Hunt, Fien and Prior go so you can renew everyone elses contracts and sign Morris?

That's all good mate but by then a few players will be exempt 100k or 200k from the cap as some players will have been in the club for 10 years. And there's tv rights to be sorted out by then for a raise in the cap!

Chefman.....As it stands for this year Gaznier came back on a 50 thousand a year contract plus match payments....Next year is where he gains a signifficant increase to capatalise on his loss for this year....

Now due to this wee have now Released Neville Costigan,Jerremy Smith,Jarrad Saffy,Michael Lett,(Jon Green-I believe)Joe Vicory,Beau Henry,Kalifa Fai Fai Low and RickY thorby from our top 25 Squad

This is how we retain the services of Gaznier for next year, you can roll payer payments on to the second year(you should check this its legitiment)

Now even if we are chassing the services of Josh Morris what makes you think we wont be releasing more tallent to get him....Matt Cooper is reaching retirement or may go to England by then.Nathan Fein is no spring Chicken and Hornby is getting close too

Now lets compare this too the Broncos Who have now Gained Greg Inglis for a reported sign on of 200 k a season plus the services of Ben Hannett
this they say is ok becuase Falou is going? And correct me if Im wrong but are they saying Falou is on more money than Inglis?

Ill finnish with this all you Sour grap loosers who cant handle that we just won a comp and you cant call us chockers any more should pull ur lip over your head and swallow....We are not over the cap and Ill wait in anicipation for the sallary cap fine if thats the case.....

The whole idea of the salary cap is to put a cap on clubs paying players too much which risks their financial future, and so the rich clubs don't price other clubs out of the market by signing top drawer players on big sums of money thereby causing competition imbalance.

So, if the salary cap rises, do you think players salaries are going to remain the same? Or are they going to rise? It's obviously the second one which I am sure you are intelligent enough to know that. But won't players salaries rise along the same scale/rate as what the salary cap has risen? Aren't players going to want more of the pie that is now available?

Bulldogs will win, apparently they still have some money left over from SBW's departure.

...And Mason's, Patten's, Maitua's, Hannant's, Holdsworth's, Kimmorley's, El Mazri's, Polla-Mounter's, Halligan's, Price's, Hughe's and Mortimer's departures it's a never ending cap out that way.

Dear chefman21,

That's a lot of speculation for someone with no idea about the Dragons club.

You're trying to predict the future, player's contracts, new signings.

Then you dare to try and compare this great club to what happened down in Melbourne. Scumbag.

You are ignorant to the players that are being let go, actually you're just ignorant in total. This ignorance is born out of bitterness and jealousy. You will only choose to see those things that help you feed this bitterness and jealousy.

I happen to know that I'm better at this than you chefman21. You see, in 2002 when the Roosters were being accused of going over the cap, I refused to buy into it. I saw nothing to be gained by trying the drag the game down to such a petty level. As a moderator, I even deleted posts that accused the Roosters of rorting the cap - I saw it as defamatory and unsubstantiated.

I'm happy to laugh with you chefman21, hell I'll even laugh at you. But if you have a point to make, make it now.

And mind the gap.

come on chef. let's relive it together......

i agree with misty. in fact i'd go further.

saints 2010 is probably the finest team ever assembled.

from 1-17 the side oozes class. it reflects poorly on the selectors & the administration that the team isn't simply swapping jerseys to rep australia in a month.

this current dragons side would literally take a dump on every single premiership team since 1908. the only side that i can think of that would challenge them would be the 1990 st george team under supercoach young.
Are you being sarcastic?
did you ever see the 1990 saints side?

every try they scored was like a kiss.

i ended that season with one massive bi-cep.
The question still stands....
i cannot discuss football with someone who clearly is ignorant.
The greatest side ever assembled? You are kidding yourself.
that team had everything.

the bruise brothers of peter spring & darren higgins. who doubled as stunt actors for the miami vice detectives.

the wizardry of peter gill playing as a second receiver outside the immortal talents of david nui.

& when the ball reached paul doolan's ankles from a silky john fafita 'offload' after a barnstorming jason hoogerwerf 3 metre power surge, the crowd would collectively massage themselves into a frenzy.

the laundries around kogarah never had it so good.
Didn't the 1990 St George side finish 12th or 13th?
the refereeing in 1990 was absolute pus.

bribery & corruption were rampant throughout the game.

the gun sides had the biggest wallets, not the best players.
Can you tell me who shot JFK? It's all one big conspiracy isn't it?

I've made my point. You think you can keep everyone plus sign Josh Morris. I think you are living in a dreamworld. I never said you were rorting the cap either. I said:

"They are some pretty serious players after some pretty serious coin. Add to that a grand final winning side and you have some big decisions to make. It may end up being like Melbourne, in that your success and keeping a squad together over a number of years either results in you losing a big number of them or you find that creative accountant."

I never said you were like Melbourne. I said that based on past examples you are at the risk of losing a lot of players or becoming like Melbourne. Look at the Bulldogs 2004 squad. Got torn apart over the next 2 years. Broncos in 2006? By the end of 2008, they had lost Thorn, Civinoceva, Carlaw, Berrigan, Boyd, Eastwood, Ennis, Stagg and Tate. Melbourne? We all know about their troubles. It is exceedingly rare for a club to stay together more than 2 years after winning a premiership. And if they do they end up where Melbourne are now. If you are really so naive to think you can keep all your players then that's fine. If you are so naive to think you can sign more than that's fine. But don't go around saying that I'm better than you when I clearly pointed out that "It may end up" which is speculation. I never said you were Melbourne.

Chefman – the kind of dribble you are dishing out generally comes from complete ignorance to / lack of understanding of a scenario or just stupidity. Your answers demonstrate that you are not stupid...which leaves you with ignorance and a lack of understanding. The dragons are not a team of superstars on inflated salaries and that will not change after a premiership. The group is a committed bunch that want to build a dynasty and, as demonstrated by the rep selectors, still not rated that highly (Ben Creagh the best example) The natural rate of losing a couple players here or there is all you’ll see – a mass exodus and salary cap rorting you will not. Whether the Josh Moz signing comes off or not is another matter – but after seeing him at the post GF celebrations – I can tell you he still has a love for the club and that can only be a good thing come contract discussions.

Where did I say we can keep everyone chefman21?

Reading the rest of your post, you seem very skilled at riding pushbikes in reverse. Let's see how you handle the above question.

Short of offering Bennett $10M a year and teleporting him back n forth to qld each day I think he's lost to you after next year. Whats he got left to prove at the drags - he's shown a team that always should've been performing better how to actually perform better, delivered 2 MPs and a premiership and who knows what for 2011. If Boyd's true to his word then he'll only wear the red v for one more season. The drags priority during next year will need to concentrate on filling a Bennett-Boyd hole.

Who knows what for 2011? How about back-to-back premierships, a rare feat in the salary cap era, a feat he accomplished in 1992 -3. This would consolidate Bennett as the best of all time. This year's success should see us get many Friday night games and Bennett get more long weekends with the family.
