A 34 member Fiji Bati squad has been announced by Bati coach Shane Morris after the successful tour of the Fiji A side to Fiji over the last week.

The squad will be issued with training programs and for the Fiji based players will assemble regularly for key sessions with Morris. The squad is a mix of locally based players and also players from Australia who will represent Fiji Bati at the proposed Pacific Cup to be held in NZ in March 2006.

Fans may be surprised to see the non selection of some NRL and English based Fijians namely Wes Naiqama, Namila Davui, Semi Tadulala, Samu Wara and Puna Rasuabale, yet they will all be involved with their club sides in March and thus unable to play in the tournament. Parramatta trio James Storer, Jarryd Hayne and Trent Waicokacola and other lower grade players Aaron Groom (Manly), Wisea Clarke and Akuila Uate (Newcastle) and Josaia Delana (Souths) have all been named but will be subject to releases from their club sides closer to the tournament.

The 34 member squad announced by national coach Shane Morris is as follows:

Colin Clarke
Wisea Clarke
Hamilton Hughes
Aaron Groom
Netani Suka
Keni Kawalevu
Villiame Baleilomaloma
Steven Delaivuna
Suli Koroibulileka
Gilbert Modrau
Esala Vute
Akuila Uate
James Storer
Jarryd Hayne
Trent Waicokacola
Asaeli Saravaki
Apasai Masikerei
Iowane Divavesi
Neori Ravono
Semesa Cadrakilagi
Jone Wesele
Marika Koroivue
Josua Koroivulu
Neori Kurimalawai
Nemai Baroka
Jo Tadulala
Toga Rokodi
Vula Dakuitoga Jnr
Apasai Basaga
Tukuna Rawaqavuka
Alipate Tani
Josaia Delana
Joe Swamy
Semisi Tora

The squad will be cut back down to 22 for the Pacific Cup.

Apparently it is to be held in Auckland in March 2006.

Uate is a great talent and will be one the Fijian management will hope continues on his rapid rise prior to the 2008 World Cup. Just imagine a threequarter line of:

2 Akuila Uate (Newcastle)
3 Wes Naiqama (Dragons)
4 Namila Davui (Bulldogs)
5 Semi Tadulala (Wakefield)

Not bad strikepower out wide.

hutch, you really are completely ignorant and out of touch when it comes to international eligibility. Broken bloody record.
