I think they need to make sure the tournament isn't watered down by spreading it too thin.

Personally I have no issue with Fiji, or any other Pacific nation bidding for games, however naturally of course they should be considered in the same merit as any other venue bidding from Australia or New Zealand.

If there is the potential there for the RLWC to make the same or more hosting the game at say ANZ Stadium in Suva then Parramatta Stadium, then it should go to Fiji. From a selling side it should be easier to get 19K in Suva than Sydney for a Fiji game and it of course it breaks down the sterotype than Rugby League is only played in just three nations.

Being honest though I'd be surprised if Fiji can offer more than some of the other areas bidding for games and considering we need the tournament to be profitable they will possibly miss out but you never know.

If the WC needs to make money so that it can be spent on developing the game in places like Fiji, it makes no sense to deprive Fiji of a game or two that will do more to promote and grow the game there than a wad of cash will.

Agreed, that's why I still can't get my head around the morons who deem holding a mid-season test between Samoa and Tonga should be played at Penrith or the Gold Coast rather than Apia or Nukuʻalofa

spot on, that's why they should host games even at a net loss, albeit reasonable. From a financial point of view, if Port Moresby is I can't see why Suva couldn't. Many more an Australian fan would fly to Fiji for a game or two than PNG.

The best outcome for all involved is for the Fiji Government to open their wallets and offer some money to host a game (or two).

If, as the article outlined, they were prepared to spend FJD 2 million (just shy of AUD 1.3m) for Super Rugby games, then there is money there which would not only easily underwrite and cover the games, but could help expose additional revenues for the FNRL.

I said this when PNG were awarded hosting rights that Fiji should have their own pool to host, in Fiji. At least their own games.

While I prefer a WC to be hosted a single nation

I think this will be a good step to hosting more regular tests in pacific nation venues

It will help determine the logistics and costs involved

Just do it. I can't imagine Fiji getting to host many other world sporting events. Should be great for the game
