Final 8 Teams
St George Illawarra Dragons
Canterbury Bulldogs
Gold Coast Titans
Melbourne Storm
Manly Sea Eagles
Brisbane Broncos
Newcastle Knights
Parramatta Eels

Squad for 4 Nations:

Petero Civoniceva (Penrith),
Cooper Cronk (Melbourne),
Robbie Farah (Wests Tigers),
Israel Folau (Brisbane),
Paul Gallen (Cronulla),
Kurt Gidley (Newcastle),
Ben Hannant (Bulldogs),
Jarryd Hayne (Parramatta),
Nathan Hindmarsh (Parramatta),
Justin Hodges (Brisbane),
Ryan Hoffman (Melbourne),
Greg Inglis (Melbourne),
Michael Jennings (Penrith),
Darren Lockyer (capt, Brisbane),
Luke Lewis (Penrith),
Josh Morris (Bulldogs),
David Shillington (Canberra),
Billy Slater (Melbourne),
Cameron Smith (Melbourne),
Sam Thaiday (Brisbane),
Johnathan Thurston (North Queensland),
Trent Waterhouse (Penrith),
Anthony Watmough (Manly),
Brett White (Melbourne).

Out of 24 players selected 16 (66%) were from teams in the final 8. Hey Humphrey’s how about telling Sheens (aka Teflon) that making the final 8 does count and it is not just a game as representative honours do come from success. WT could crack just 1 spot- with a maybe second spot against Galloway if he hadn’t injured his knee prior to the PNG game. Penrith who finished 2 spots below WT got 4 players selected. Says a lot for Penrith recruitment vs WT recruitment.

Common Teflon we (WT) can do better.

Not a single Dragon in the squad though. Not the first time a side has been diddled in the rep selection room after a great season.

Soward is unlucky to have players such as Thurston, Prince and Cronk in front of him.
Creagh should have been in the squad, no doubt about it.
Aside from Civoniceva and possibly Jennings, I don't think anyone else in Penrith should have been considered.
Maybe that's just Sheens looking after his choccy soldiers as always.

Wow. That is a bloody terrible thing to say.

2005 rings a bell - win a premiership, not a player selected...

Grand Final Players Selected:
Scott Prince
Luke O'Donnell

then we had all our favourites from teams that missed the 8. Gus gave the selectors a ribbing during the first match for picking out of form players, and he said they lost that game in the selection room. He also said it would almost be a blessing in disguise if they didn't win the whole thing, as it would be a huge kick up the arse.
