meh. cbf with FFXIII. Everything i've heard about it suggested the first 20 hrs of the game was basically a linear path, and the story wasn't nearly good enough to make it worth it.

Thus I don't care about it's sequel.

apparently they've reacted to the criticisms of XIII, and made the sequel very non-linear and open world. what you said about the first one is true, kungl, but i thought the battle system in XIII was really refreshing, it required pace, strategy and let you battle on a more meta level... similar to 12's gambit system but more streamlined. i found XIII frustrating, but the second half of the game was rewarding. i'll definitely pick up the sequel, the same battle system in a non-linear, more open world appeals to me. i think the sequel will definitely be remembered more fondly than the first.

you're not wrong, though. the shit you said is fair. i just happen to have struggled through those 20 hours and came out the other side. lol.

in other news, I really wanna replay FFIX. My first non-Pokemon RPG  my first FF, and one of my favourite games of all time.

Bought it, only played the first hour or so.

Enjoying it so far, the beginning is linear, but it is like a giant guide to the game, so expected.

I played the demo and was impressed with the way your character levels up, and the ability to have monsters as the 3rd character in your party.

Story isnt clear at the moment, but thats FF for ya.

As a side, I also got a really cool outfit for Noel for pre-ordering.... looks a bit like a samurai.

My copy's currently on its way from the UK. Everything that I've read has pointed to this game fixing everything that was wrong with the first.

Don't care about DLC as my ps3 isn't hooked up to the net.

Well worth the wait when it's over $40 cheaper than in any retail store in Australia...

Got mine for $79, with full pre-order bonus from JB.

Game has too much to do!!!!

Almost 8 hours in and I have only been to 3 different timezones....

Hunting monsters is addictive.

I cant for the life of me catch an Albino Lobo..... From what I have heard they are one of the best ravagers for a fair chunk of the game.

I have only had a battle against them 3 times, but still unable to catch even when using feral links.

Despite voice acting and all that jazz...I still thought 10 wasn't as compelling a story as any of the previous 3

Wait what? How did you get the pre-order bonus for $79 at JB? I paid the full $120 or whatever it was!

Tried playing this the other night and realised the first disc is munted. :(

FFX really doesn't age all that well. When I first played it I was blown away by the entire production, enjoyed the character tropes, thought they established a really good nemesis and enjoyed the overall mystery of the game.

But then I went back to it and found most of the characters to be wooden or annoying, a lot of silly JRPG tropes were thrown in that annoyed me, Blitzball was stupid, gameplay was ridiculously easy with Yuna in the party and certain sequences just dragged on too long (Seymour, the finale etc.).

I also don't think a game with as many wacky character designs should take itself so god damn seriously. Half the fun in FFIX is that it seems no matter what happens the characters are sort of playing along with you.

With that said, the music is still awesome.

Methinks he might be telling a little fib to try to make games seems better value in Aus than they really are.

NFI

I went to pre-order the week before it dropped. Got told that I could only pre-order the regular version (which is what I wanted as I have no interest in having collectibles I will just throw out)

Rocked up on release day. Woman handed me a pack with the hard case and pre-order bonuses in it. I said I didnt order the limited edition, she said that it was a pre-order bonus.

I got the hard case, 4 'postcards', attire for Noel and Serah, Weapon for Noel and access to the Omega boss.

I figured that was the standard pre-order.... could be that I get the collectors edition for retail?? Not sure.

Wanna see my receipt?
