If it was my cash and not giftcards, then I would possibly agree.

As I said originally, seemed like alot to give up for $20, but it is becoming apparent that I possibly got things I shouldnt have.

So, good for you, but I cant see the value in missing the pre-order bonuses and the ability to get DLC, and not being able to play it as soon as you pay for it, for the sake of saving $20 odd.

I hope, for your sake, that they dont add some really cool DLC.

Like I said, PS3 not hooked up to Internet, and probably won't be for at least a year, by which point I'll have long finished the game.

DLC care factor = 0

Just be aware that there was a patch, v 1.01, released before the game hit shelves.

Hopefully there is no game-breaking fault or something they have fixed.

Finished the game today. Got all 160 fragments. Thoroughly enjoyed the game. Wonder where they'll take the series next?

I think so, possibly you pre-ordered the game on its own/the normal limited edition (was there even two limited editions/collectors editions?) and the lady gave you the best version by accident. I hope it was a mistake and not something they did in the last week before it came out to ensure buyers, because that means they punished me for pre-ordering well in advance by ripping me off to the tune of $40!

As for the DLC, I haven't got it but I read a review of it and its pretty bad, apparently. I think its a fetch quest, no fighting or new areas, and at the end of it you get Sazh as a monster to use.

At about 80 fragments and its been good so far. One quibble I had was that when I went into a time period for the first time and it says something like "Academia 400AF" and then the characters arrive and are like "WHERE ARE WE?? WHAT YEAR IS IT???" It just seemed really odd and silly to me when I just saw it for them to know nothing. It kind of took away my suspension of disbelief, took me out of the moment. Obviously the characters aren't meant to know where the gates lead at first, so why not just have ?????? until you actually go there and find out? Minor quibble, but annoying for me.

Tried playing this the other night and realised the first disc is munted. :(

FFX really doesn't age all that well. When I first played it I was blown away by the entire production, enjoyed the character tropes, thought they established a really good nemesis and enjoyed the overall mystery of the game.

But then I went back to it and found most of the characters to be wooden or annoying, a lot of silly JRPG tropes were thrown in that annoyed me, Blitzball was stupid, gameplay was ridiculously easy with Yuna in the party and certain sequences just dragged on too long (Seymour, the finale etc.).

I also don't think a game with as many wacky character designs should take itself so god damn seriously. Half the fun in FFIX is that it seems no matter what happens the characters are sort of playing along with you.

With that said, the music is still awesome.

I've played FF 1 through 10 in the last 7 years or so...My favourites were 7 and 9. I want to replay 4 and 6, old school RPGers rate them more highly than I seem to on first impression - Chronotrigger is considerabely better imo.

nice, i've only played through 7, 10, 13 and some of 12. 7 was definitely my favourite, with 10 a close second. Chronotrigger is brilliant, although i haven't finished it either (only partial). i must get around to that, actually.

Just like me, 7 is my favourite, 10 is my second favourite. Chronotrigger is brilliant. Defintely give 6 a go, its really, really good. Why did you only play some of 12 btw? I finished it but persaonlly wasn't a big fan. I can't even remember most of the characters, which I can do for 6, 7, 8, 9, 10/10-2, 13/13-2 (to be fair I'm playing 13-2 now though). Vaan. Thats it. The story didn't get me hooked, something about the world I didn't like. I would like that in a fantasy novel but not in my final fantasy, if that makes sense

Ok, I don't know how to do the spoiler thing, if someone lets me know how I will edit after the fact but for now SPOILER STOP READING IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW THE END OF FINAL FANTASY 13-2. Figured it out woo!

Ok, wtf was that? I nearly fell out of my chair when it said to be continued. Serah dies and the goddess dies and the world is consumed by chaos? And I was like "WHAT??? You cant be continued when you yourself are a continuation of another game" then I thought that a secret ending must be available. I get all the fragments and the message pops up to replay the final area and see the secret ending!

I do so and its the worst secret ending I've ever seen. It was a slap in the face. It was basically saying "hey, secret ending here! Come look! Actually, its just Caius confirming that the first ending is what happened with no new information. TROLLED YA!" I read that Final Fantasy 13-3 has been registered as a domain name or something like that, I think thats a step too far. This game was supposed to wrap up the series, I kind of feel they are extorting us now.

It was interesting though, at least. When I looked back at when you get to the end and Yuel says that you shouldn't go on, and that if you do you have no future there, or its not the future you want or something similar. I kind of just passed it off, although I did think it was odd. Turns out the game was being serious.

Picked this up for $30 a few weeks ago; I was a fan of XIII, but wasn't really too interested in this one.
Anyway, most of what needs to be said about this game (it rocks) has been said, but;
CAIUS. Seriously, the guy is one of the most awesome villains I've ever faced in a game. Haunting, Nazi-inspired theme music, kick-a$$ final battle song, an actual tangible and realistic goal, driven mad but not actually evil. He's a tragic villain, and he is also pretty unique for being a villain that (SPOILERS) wins regardless of what you do (/SPOILERS).
Just had to talk about this bada$$, who is very likely to reappear in the next game.
