Looking back over some stats etc from Sheens' career at the Tigers
Record from Round 19 to the end of the regular season
2003 - 2 wins, 6 losses (5 wins, 11 losses at end of Round 18)
2004 - 3 wins, 4 losses (7 wins, 10 losses at end of Round 18)
2005 - 5 wins, 2 losses (9 wins, 8 losses at end of Round 18)
2006 - 2 wins, 5 losses (8 wins, 9 losses at end of Round 18)
2007 - 2 wins, 5 losses (9 wins, 8 losses at end of Round 18)
2008 - 4 wins, 4 losses (7 wins, 9 losses at end of Round 18)
2009 - 6 wins, 2 losses (6 wins, 10 losses at end of Round 18)
2010 is the first in his time here that Tigers have won at least 10 games in the first 18 rounds.
The team placed 8th since 2000:
2000 - Cronulla 26pts (+107)
2001 - Warriors 26pts (+9)
2002 - Canberra 25pts (-237) *And they didn't win any away games!
2003 - Brisbane 28 (+33)
2004 - Canberra 26 (-59)
2005 - Manly 28 (-78)
2006 - Parramatta 28 (+23)
2007 - Brisbane 24 (+35) *Tigers also finished on 24pts, negative differential
2008 - Warriors 30 (-65)
2009 - Parramatta 29 (+3)
So at this rate, 30 points is safe. I reckon we'd need 3 wins to be safely into the finals, if we can finish at worst, in 6th position, it should be enough to give us a second chance after week 1 of the finals, if we need it.
However, since 2000, no team placed below 4th on the ladder at the end of the regular season has won the GF.
2000 - Brisbane (1st)
2001 - Newcastle (3rd)
2002 - Roosters (4th)
2003 - Penrith (1st)
2004 - Canterbury (2nd)
2005 - Wests Tigers (4th)
2006 - Brisbane (3rd)
2007 - Melbourne (1st)
2008 - Manly (2nd)
2009 - Melbourne (4th)
Grand Finalists (positions are where the team finished on the ladder prior to the ommencement of the finals)
1st - 3 wins, 5 losses
2nd - 2 wins, 3 losses
3rd - 2 wins
4th - 3 wins
5th - 1 loss
8th - 1 loss
no team placed 6th or 7th on the ladder at the end of the regular season has made the Grand Final in the last 10 years.
