The NRL have dug themselves into a hole and it would be a horrible PR disaster if they reversed the no punch rule, even for Origin, they'd get slaughtered by the media. I think we can all see that there almost needs to be a punch up in Origin to settle everything down otherwise it ends up being what Game 2 turned into.

I think the best compromise would be the introduction of a 5 minute sin-bin for fighting, although they couldn't say it was specifically for fighting, political correctness and all.

How about they run a West Vs East Origin game and exclude the NSW/Qld players? Make them pick players from other states.

It would probably start as a non event but it will build as the number of players from these states increase.
